lol being a system player doesn't mean bad. You can score 42069 points in a game and still be a system player. The Raptors are getting him a lot of good shots and he is finishing plays at a high level.

Yeah gotta give Norm credit, he took a leap this year with the added opportunity and the efficiency has been crazy. Gotta give credit where it’s due

I dunno how any intelligent fan could have expected this team to be any good. Glaring holes and depleted depth are glaring. I’m happy we’re on our way to a better pick. It realistically is the best thing that could happen to this team. I understand this draft is suppose to be really good too.

Maybe I don’t feel the sting because I honestly expected us to be bad this year.

The problem is there are many teams that have been playing poorly this year. Any team that goes on a mini run suddenly in top 4 in the east. Trade deadline May make a difference this year. I don’t mind raptors missing the playoffs this year. I don’t think they will go far in the playoffs with the current make up of the team.

They played hard last night and put themselves in position to take a game from the best team in the league (so far). Playing like that, they could get into playoffs again, but it will lead to a short run against teams like this that are simply better.

Fools gold. Gotta look at the team subjectively and ask ourselves is it built to win now? The answer is a clear and definitive no.

We’re in a transitional year, and it’s expected that we take a step or two back. Most people expected this last season but we did well last season due to continuity and the fact that we had a more complete team.

I rather bottom out and get a higher pick. I have no interest in watching our boys get embarrassed in the first round. We need to get a stud out of the draft and continue to build around the FVV/Siakam/OG core. We’re in retooling mode. Not compete now for a ship mode. We’re 11th in the east with a couple months left. Let’s not miss a chance to get a nice pick, just to fool our selves in to thinking this group has some sorta chance in the playoffs. It doesn’t.

That would be ideal. But this TDL will give us an idea how we are going to proceed. If we stand pat, I don't think we'll end up with a nice pick. Team is still good enough to make the playoffs.

I don't see this team far off from the teams seeded through 4-10. There isnt much separation. They aren't relevant in the big picture this season but that only puts them in a group of 25 other teams.

Nurse recently said that this team deserves an opportunity to make the playoffs when asked about the trade deadline. I definitely understand why some of you want to see them tank but I dont see that happening

We’re already seeing the team get on board with this. Nurse is running Watson and Flynn off the bench to get them more comfortable for next season.

Yeah y'all have to do that because a playoff run at this point is unrealistic unless you start winning games out of nowhere. So yeah the yearly playoff streak would come to an end this year but with a top 5 or top 10 pick, and then if you either get rid of Powell or Lowry or both to get cap space to go after whoever, the rebuild won't last too long

If we let both walk, pick up the team option on Boucher, we have about 20 million in cap space.

Not max level, but above MLE. Houston used that type of middle room to add Wood last offseason. There will be players to sign.

Hmmm... wish dragic was expiring. It would be nice to make moves for picks and young players and still have some of that cap to work with too.

Lol we’re not any closer to winning now either so I dunno what that means.

My point is we’re always going to struggle with financial flexibility with that contract. Siakam is worth a Freddy V contract IMO. But him taking a max slot hurts our ability to further improve the team moving forward which I was attributing to your point.

Any Miami trade for Lowry is going to include Iggys expiring. And beyond that we’re interested in guys like Herro, Robinson, and Kelly to make salaries closer to matching. I’m with you, no nterest in taking Dragic back it doesn’t make any sense for us.

Not sure how Wiseman has been but wouldnt mind that Minny pick :P

Maybe it was covid but not sure how so many teams whiffed on Wood. I think that was an extremely anomalous signing. It would be very hard to love up to that standard ha.

Leave it for the Toronto teams to break other team’s misery.

I've been in the "sell" camp for a while, but I never expected it to go south this much. I long rationalized the start and totally get the COVID impact for much of this stretch. But these past 2 games I wouldn't have guessed. It's like Auston Powers losing his mojo in the Spy Who Shagged Me.

I disagree. I’d say we are closer to winning. I think we would have made the playoffs this season if we had any home games. Or even if we just never got struck by covid. I also think we are in line for a quick turn around next season.

I don’t see siakam’s contract as something that will hold us back. Not having siakam would be holding us back more than his contract will. It’s not easy to find a 20/8/5 PF who can defend any position.
