You know, I find this refreshing. People are so busy glorifying Nurse that they miss some of the real dumb *** things that he does. No coach is perfect, and I like Nurse but we should be able to say hey that was a head scratcher move. That what you just mentioned was def a head scratcher move.
I think our starting line up should be
Lowry
FVV
OG
Siakam
Boucher
Is Boucher undersized ? yes he is, but so is FVV. Boucher is one of the best shot blockers in the league. (3rd leading this year) the guys a pogo stick and I think that is really our best starting 5 unit.
Siakam looking excellent in the 1st.
lol they're better off playing super small than spotting len minutes
They played so well and are only up a couple possessions.

Man Boucher has been gold for me in fantasy
at this point they gotta think about tanking even if they're better than their record suggests
How was that for a satisfying loss!
How y'all have the lead, a large lead when I go to sleep but when I wake up...y'all lose the ****in game? It ain't make no damn sense to me at all
May as well tank the whole season like I just don't understand this team
I can't believe they blew that one in the 4th, they were playing so well for 3 quarters...
On the bright side, Pascal looked even better last night, and Boucher continues to impress. He was making big shots coming down the stretch, as well well blocking shots. Portland just threw him around all night without many fouls though. He was constantly going flying from under the rim...and pretty sure Nurkic told him early what kind of night it was gonna be for him under the basket........then a few minutes later Boucher swatted his *****..lol He is now shooting over 47% from deep on the season and averaging 14 and 6 with 2.6 blocks in 22 minutes. As his minutes increase those numbers increase as well. Every single time he has played at least 28 minutes this season he has scored 20+ points, and in those 4 games he has averaged just under 22 points, just over 8 rebounds and 3 blocks.
I don't think we are gonna see any 4min games from Boucher going forward. He may not join the starting lineup because they need his production off the bench, but I think he is going to start playing around 30 mpg a lot more often.
Does anyone know why Nurse just doesn't call timeouts when the opposing team is on a run? Especially late in 4th quarter like yesterday. This situation has happened in almost all games this season in the 3rd and 4th quarter. I just don't understand.
It could look silly in a months time if they go on a run, but realistically, this team is a likely first round exit or bubble team. With a Lowry trade we could get more favorable lottery odds. The schedule hasn’t even been that hard. A 2-8 start could be a good thing long term.
Yeah they’re not a playoff team... honestly that should have been apparent to us all with our off-season moves and a bench left thinner than paper. I think lowering expectations will help us raptor fans get through this season because like you say, this could be a good thing for the team long term
I’m ok with watching guys like Davis/Flynn develop this year and Boucher looks like he’s breaking out which is nice to see.
They blew the 4th because they were tired.
Season at this point may as well be a wash for y'all Raptors...but 2021 NBA Draft is as deep as it has been in years. As deep as Lebron's draft way back in 2003, because if you see the talent coming out of NCAA and G League and Europe you have names like:
Cade Cunningham (PG)
Evan Mobley (PF/C)
Jalen Green (PG/SG)
Jonathan Kuminga (SG/SF)
Jalen Suggs (SG)
BJ Boston (SG)
I could go on and on with more names; my point bein this Draft, this upcoming Draft looks good on paper.
Im not saying we are better without lowry.. I waited a long time before I splurged last year on an authentic lowry. So over the years I have grown to accept the fact he goes down as one of the best/if not the best raptor of all time. But also the trade of him is exciting. Going back to the rudy gay trade on the surface it looked like we were robbed but the return really changed the dynamic of that team and got some really good balance in the team. If you count on siakam, og, fred and now even boucher to go on that upward trajectory. Heck I would be happy if we got a salmons, vasquez, patterson minus hayes lol + picks type of deal to round things out.
Trade Lowry then to a contender especially if you committed to a full on rebuild and then layin your eggs in one basket as far as the 2021 NBA Draft Lottery and Draft are concerned cuz if you do that and the Raptors end up with the worst record or one of the worst records in the NBA...come Draft lottery ping pong balls could bless you with a top 3 pick and if that happens, you could end up with a franchise altering player like Cunningham, Green, Suggs, Kuminga, Mobley, Boston, etc
Yeah we can do a fantasy thread, I think a few guys play here.
Are you doing Roto or H2H ?
I would say stay with Randle bro. In my league Randle is currently hovering top 15-20 where as Simmons is like 45-50 range.
But if you’re in a category league Simmons gives more pts across the board.
That’s an interesting take. Def an option that becomes more realistic as the season progresses and our playoff chances become more dim.
Another option is always to bring Lowry back on a team friendly contract if he’s up for it, as I think Flynn and FVV can learn a ton from him and his game is aging nicely.
Actually, I have been the one making a biggest case for Boucher to play since way before the season started...like constantly...lol I didn't just make one random prediction, I have given many reasons as to why I felt this was going to happen if they just let the guy play. Go back if you need to, this thread and the offseason thread are littered with them :)
(NOTE: Not saying you didn't say something a long time ago too, but he was 100% correct when he named me the guy that has been calling this "breakout" from Boucher. ;) )
I could see Masai having a talk with Lowry about his future to see what is more important to him, Retiring as a Raptor, making as much money as possible, or hunting another championship at all cost. If he wants to go hunting for either the most money possible or the path of least resistance to another ring then you trade him right now. Even if they make the playoffs, they aren't a contender this year as currently constructed. ....like not even close. I think if they make it in they will be a bottom 4 team and likely get eliminated in the first round. With no elite scorer to rely on every night and no elite team defense to rely on, they are in treadmill land right now....and if this keeps snowballing much longer they could end up high in the lottery.
All this starting 5 needs is a legit young athletic shot blocking, rebounding C with a jumper that isn't totally broke to develop along with Pascal, FVV and OG. This is why I wanted someone like Oturu in the draft over Flynn. Especially now that it looks like Davis likely isn't going anywhere. He would have been a perfect fit with this roster. I know he isn't playing much in LA now that they have both Serge and Zubac, but how nice would a 21 year old, 6'10", 240 lb C with bounce fit in with this team? All he did was average 20 and 11 with 2.5 blocks in college last year as a the primary option for Minnesota...while shooting over 56% from the field, over 70% from the FT line and 36.5% from deep on almost 2 attempts per game. Flynn may develop into something, but this core needed someone like Oturu a heck of a lot more than they needed Flynn.
So, that being said what about the following:
Lowry, Baynes and McCaw
for
Batum, Beverly, Oturu
Batum is an expiring 29M dollar deal, but he is a solid 6'9, three and D wing who's shooting 43.5% from deep so far this season. Beverly is a solid defensive minded PG who plays hard and would fit right in with this team with his ability to make open 3's, and Oturu gives them a young C with solid size and quickness.
With FVV looking like an all-star so far this season, they can afford to trade Lowry if he is likely gone at the end of the season for nothing.
