The only answer that makes any sense is that he had a better deal worked out with another company and didn't count on Pfizer being the first.

It must piss off the Trump faithful to learn that the actual groundwork for the accelerated pace of the vaccine development — based entirely on the development of the messenger RNA technique (mRNA) — was accomplished at the NIH in connection with the University of Pennsylvania under the auspices (and with the full support) of the Obama Adminstration.

It’s like the economy: Trump’s achievements — the ones he continuously praises himself for — were only possible because Obama had already done most of the heavy lifting.

while I understand what you're saying....the same is true for every administration
....well maybe not Biden's

But Biden is in the situation where even if he is only so-so as a president, he will get credit (some deserved some not) for pulling the country out of a pandemic, restoring some economic issues, creating some civil rights progressions......even though much of it is going to happen regardless of who is in the WH. You can argue it wouldn't, but even under a 2nd Trump administration some of it would still happen.

This year and Trump's actions have opened the door for Democrats to grab a TON of control in this country, and if handled well, for a long time. Trumpism has put his party into the equivalent of the Dark Ages (I know that's extreme, but...)

And while logically, there really shouldn't BE runoffs in Georgia (how often is the majority required when there's more than 2 candidates), Trump's continuing actions since the election and 'campaigning' for Perdue and Loeffler are all but ensuring....both Dems win in January.

I disagree.

When Obama was elected in 2008 and had to face the aftermath of arguably the worst presidential administration in that last half century (9/11, the Patriot Act, Invasion of Iraq, criminal activity by the financial industry resulting in economic meltdown), you might have thought that just about anyone would look good after Bush/Cheyny.

But, then there was Mitch McConnell. And guess what? He’s still around, prepping to undermine another administration.

I guess 50 years from now, if we come up with a cure for cancer, we'll be able to connect it to Obama. They must have discussed it during his presidency.

Pretty much everything positive that happens starts with BO. It's like that story that 10% of the world's population is connected to Ghengis Khan.

Not so, but in this case, yes.

If it comes to pass that a Trump administration iniative led to a cure for cancer, I, for one would applaud the fact. As it is, the mRNA vaccine had its current scientific roots in the NIH work done under the Obama administration. The FAST TRACK vaccine is a direct result of that science. Should be simple, even for you.

Refute it if you can — with evidence.

Fast Tracking as a concept has been a pretty recent concept. As for Obama being an advocate, what did Obama do to implement the concept in the testing and development of drugs and treatments for preventing and treating harmful diseases? Answer: NOTHING. That was done by Mr. Trump in his partnership of his administration with the drug companies and logistics required to deliver the product to the public. Obama did basically nothing but talk a good game. Just like he did with the CHOICE program within the VA. He tried to get it going but failed and Trump took it over and made it work.

It’s laughable to give Trump any credit for the vaccine. Any president would have got it done in the same amount of time. If you want to give him credit it’s only for removing the red tape. It is the scientists that deserve ALL of the credit.
