Just what this team doesn't need. A high K, power hitting DH/COFer
Enough of them on the team
Pass.
But we know how much Cashman loves those guys.
No doubt he would rake here, just no spot.

World series off.

The #Yankees announced that they agreed to terms on one-year contract with RHP Ben Heller, thus avoiding arbitration.
All these non-tenders make for wonderful stocking stuffers this time of year. Can we expand the 40 man into a 75 man?

Complete list of non tendered. Id take Bradley as a 6th_7th inning bp arm.. Then sign Rosenthal and/ or Hand and wed have a beast on a BP.
I also heard from my source that the Yanks are very, very much in and one of the 2-3 favorites to sign Kluber and the Japanese pitcher. A rotation of Cole, Kluber, German, Japanese pitcher and Monty, Garcia and Schmidt battling for the 5 spot with Sevy coming back mid season. That would give us a solid high ceiling rotation with lots of depth.. Quite a bit of health concerns though.
Also told that the reason the Yanks are heavily after the Japanese pitcher is to help improve there market in Asia, especially if they don't bring back Tank.
PJ and I posted a NY Post article yesterday. (I deleted mine I was late posting.)
Tomoyuki Sugano is one of the best in NPB. The 31-year-old righty went 14-2 with a 1.97 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP and 131 strikeouts in 137 innings in 2020. In eight seasons in the NPB, Sugano has posted a 2.34 ERA, and twice has won the Sawamura Award as the best pitcher in NPB.
What would u think of that rotation is it included 2 of Tanaka, Klubers or Susan in it to start the yr?
Anyone else think that the Yanks my be crying poor far more than they actually are. Holder, Heller and Cessa were all expected to be non tendered and if they were really Cash strapped Sanchez. yet only Holder at around 1m was cut? They could have saved 10m plus but they only saved 1m? Stories just don't match up IMO.
Just my guess reading the tea leaves of the Yanks rumors, off season notes but if they were really as cash strapped as they are saying then I would have expected more cuts.
Look at the Cubs, they let 2 very solid players go in Schwarber and Almora. Jr. They proved how much financial trouble they are in, us not so much IMO.
I hope the rest of the off season reflects that they have some money to actually give us a solid chance as a winner
Unfortunately u are probably right and ill be pissed
Hal the bean counter, tight wad he is, always cries poverty. However, they do have some of the highest overhead in MLB. Also the YES acquisition added BILLIONS to debt service. IDK, $10M seems like pocket change in comparison to $3.5B note.
Very true
yanks had a high payroll last year and they spent a fortune to add cole.. not that the yanks failures last year was cole fault...no fans yanks lost a lot last year and will lose even more this year as the vaccine for the general public wont be soon enough to allow baseball to return to normal next year...baseball is a business and hal is a real business first owner.2 years in a row the yanks will lose money...
