To add to this, the deal is apparently offical.
According to multiple reports its offical, I have not seen anything from the Yanks.
Obviously have to clear a 40 man roster spot. So may be a bit before his deal is announced.
No details on years/money either.

It’s official , Wilson is a yankee . Cost seems to be 4 mill . Finally the Yankees made an improvement this off season
The chirinos signing is a good one . Gives much needed depth at catcher
Not really a fan of his, since he was involved in the Astros buzzer scandal.
He also wasn't very kind with some of his words towards Yankees fans. But, Yankees can be..well..you know.
But, I do agree from a depth perspective, it's a good signing and a minor league deal is ideal. Not sure if there is anything in his contact that would trigger an opt out if not on the roster by X date.

good point, i forgot he was a prick with the Astros. I was just thinking of his profile and being able to get him on a milb deal. He was better than either of our 2guys last yr and has a rep as a catcher pitchers really feel comfortable throwing to.
I completely understand them giving Sanchez another chance because of his ability but they absolutely need a really strong #2.
I really miss having Romine around. He wasn't great but he was solid behind the plate, made all the plays you expected him to and was about league average ( maybe likely worse) with the bat. Lots of value and peace of mind having a guy like that always around
Hopefully within this next group of catching specs that we've acquired the last couple yrs we can develop a solid starter and a solid back up. We have a really solid group of 4-5 C coming in the next two yrs so we can hope
Seattle signs Paxton to one year and 8 million. Good luck with that contract.
Giving justin wilson 4 million and passing on Jake McGee for 3.5 really has me scratching my head on this one, if the yankees were looking for a left hander. Andrew Chafin was also a cheaper option at 2.75 million. Wilson walks a ton of batters. He's someone that will in all likelihood, need to be bailed out, every time he comes in, much like Ottavino. Why would they need someone like this.
At this point in the off season i would have been thrilled to get Paxton for 1yr8m. If Paxton is your 4th/5th starter your rotation is in pretty good shape. Sure their is an injury risk but if current worout reports and videos are right he back up to 97Plus with the FB and has his high arm slot back. IMO teams that have the most pitching depth this yr are going to have a huge advantage. If Paxton could give you close to what he did with us in 19 thats worth 8m.
If Paxton comes back healthy and pitching for a contract he could easily be the steal of the off season and watch the Ms pickup a couple very nice specs for letting him pitch there till July
Overall I really like Wilson as an addition. He isnt Kahnle or Rosenthal but he's not bad. He's been a solid reliever for a long time and you have a pretty decent idea what you're going to get from him.
I've seen an MILB and I've heard it could be 2urs 4m with incentives. If it's 1yr 4m, that's alot. Between what the gave O'Day and if Wilson is going to be 4m, I would have rather had Archie Bradley or someone of that caliber.
When u have the kind of BP arms we have coming, Abeau, Nelson Krispe, ect I'd way rather have had 1 really high caliber reliever vs 2 pretty good ones.
If they gave Wilson that much that will be the end of Gardy. They will also have to free up a 40 man spot also. Although if they delay the signing till ST they can put Sevy on the 60 day IL
Paxton has had only 1 healthy season in his career . Not even worth 8 mill . Plus he is 32 years old and will only get more injury prone as he gets older . I am actually thrilled that Paxton is gone . That trade is now officially a loss on the Yankees side since the Mariners now have both Sheffield and Paxton . My biggest fear with the Yankees is now cashman will go trade for Paxton again at the deadline .
2 million for Wilson would sound about right, but to be honest, I wouldn't even have given him that much. To me, a reliever who walks over 4+ to 5.5 batters on average per 9 innings is worthless, unless their stuff is so elite they could get themselves out of jams. That doesn't sound like Wilson.
This team is constructed to make the post season if everything goes right with their pitching. I think they might just make it even if the Kluber and Taillon experiments fail, but this bullpen is almost a roadmap to another early exit from the post season.
Put me down on the positive side for both signings.
Chrinos was Cole's favorite catcher in Houston and he is a good defender. This could be a no risk gamble or they could carry 3 catchers or it could be the current version of replacing Mike Stanley and his 30 HRs with Joe Girardi, should the Yankees decide to trade Sanchez and his $6 - $7 million salary. I think they are probably still looking to make something happen on the trade front. I agree that if they don't, Gardy's not coming back. If a rumor arises (maybe I'll start one - LOL) that the Yankees are looking into trading Sanchez for prospects and using the money to re-sign Gardy, who would be more upset, the Gardy haters if the trade is made or the Sanchez haters if the trade isn't made or would those who hate them both have a nervous breakdown.
Justin Wilson is a serviceable lefty pitcher. I have always thought that a bullpen should have 3 LHs in it, especially if one of them is the closer and even more so, if your rotation is primarily RH. We certainly needed the LH after losing both Paxton and Happ from the rotation. Further, Wilson has pitched in NY with the Yankees and Mets and maintained an ERA below 4.00. He walks a few extra batters, but also has a high swing and miss rate.
