The Yankees aren't a competitive team. You're can't be half serious with that nonsense.

I think it’s time to call SD and ask if they want Stanton. Offer to eat $5mil a year. That frees up $20 million and a DH spot. A team that’s going all in and trying to compete with the dodgers might go for that deal.
Better yet i say it’s time for a rebuild . If they are gonna do nothing this off season about the rotation then just rebuild .
He’s from SoCal and there aren’t many better places to live in the world than San Diego. Plus the Pads are an absolute contender. It’s not like he’d be accepting a trade to Cincinnati. I’m a Yankees fan so I’m very biased in who I would want to play for. But looking objectively, SD would probably be above the Yankees on a lot of players lists.
Yanksguy , if you are responding to my posts . You are only talking to yourself . I have had you blocked for months now so I have no idea what you are saying .
I've heard more bizarre ideas. I'm sure we can all recall the myriad of "would ya" trade proposals.
Is Stanton a fit in SD? Will they adopt the Universal DH? With the current collective bargaining agreement expiring after the 2021 season, it has long been assumed that the universal DH would be one of the many issues to be debated between the owners and players. The 2020 implementation was considered to be a first step in that direction, and since the experiment seemed to work well, could the league and the MLBPA simply skip ahead and make the designated hitter permanent in National League baseball? Big question. No clear indication.
MLB Sent Memo Telling Teams to Not Expect Universal DH in 2021. According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, MLB sent a memo last week to clubs instructing them to proceed under the assumption that there will be no designated hitter in 2021 in the National League. 12/7/2020
Seems SD moved on from Moreland, IDK. Reading between the lines....
Hey, I am a bit jealous of what the Padres are doing, but saying the Yankees are not a "competitive" team is ridiculous. We have been a high level, competitive team for years, and will continue to be a team few other teams want to face. Sure, I wish Cashman would be active on the trade front and spend millions of Hal's money, but this is still an entertaining and competitive team.
How competitive can a team be with Cole and 4 unknowns as their starting rotation ? How competitive can you expect them to be if they lose both Tanaka and Paxton and then get the injuries everyone expects them to get ? Were the Yankees this past season very competitive with Paxton and Tanaka? I mean they finished just one game ahead of the jays , a team no one expected to make the playoffs but did so . Do I think the Yankees will make the playoffs next season ? Yes but not because of how competitive you think they are , but because with expanded playoffs it takes less than 85 wins to make the playoffs . In other words the Yankees will go and beat the crap out of the bad to very bad teams and then crap the bed in the playoffs like they always do these days .
Do I also need to mention the low life cheaters?
Nah I didn't think so.
They won 103 games because they beat the crap out of bad and mediocre teams . Did you forget that it was verlander that beat the yanks twice in that series ? Sign stealing didn’t make verlander better , he owned the Yankees since he was with Detroit . And that team is not the same team they have now . They don’t have sevy yet and won’t until the summer . And may lose both Paxton and Tanaka , you keep forgetting that . And I was talking about how competitive they are right now not how good they were 3 years ago . This team is older and is on the verge of losing talent without replacing them . You are forgetting that in the 3 years since , their starting catcher has led the league in passed balls , has gone from hitting .270 and a bunch of hrs to a shell of his former self . Their face of the franchise hasn’t had a healthy season since then , their “ace” back then has since had TJ surgery and hasn’t pitched in 2 years due to other injuries too . This is not the “same” team from three years ago . It is a less hungry, not as talented much more injured and older version of that team .
That team 3 years ago was a young, healthy and hungry team . That’s not the the same team we have now .
Darvish was clearly the best SP available behind Snell and Bauer. No reason why the Yankees shouldn't have went for him. His average velocity was the highest in his career last season and the results showed. 3 years/60 million and the prospects the Padres gave up was an extremely reasonable return, especially given the fact that the Yankees don't have a reliable SP arm after Cole. Its likely one of Paxton, Happ or Tanaka come back but both NY teams missed out on SP help they needed.
