Kluber and Paxton are going to cost significantly more Than Taillion. Kluber could cost 10m plus incentives. Paxton could get a deal in 7-10m plus incentives.
When u have very limited salary space to give out 2.5m is a much more manageable risk than someone who is going to cost 3 to 4x as much
Torres isn't getting moved. Lindor return is going to be very underwhelming. How many teams can afford to add $20-25 mil in payroll during covid that have a realistic shot at signing him LT. Yankees, Dodgers, Mets?Quote:

With respect to DJ, we could always use him in a rotational role (like the original plan) for the first 2 years and then move him to 1B permanently. Between injury prone players, Urshela's elbow, and our desire to rest guys, DJ would be hard pressed to get a day off even if he wasn't the starting 2B. He's just so flexible. And, Urshella has the ability to be flexible too (probably the best SS on the team).
Lindor still makes sense. And, I would think Voit would have to be sacrificed in such a deal, which means DJ playing most of his days at 1B, which may be easier as he approaches mid 30's.

Mets, I can see your point especially about Kluber and Paxton. What make those guys more interesting, atleast to me, is their upside. Healthy they could be a solid 2-3. The reason I lean toward Kluber costing more is because of his resume and that he's a control/command/ location guy vs Paxton being so dependent on Velo. With Paxton losing 5mph off his FB, tons of spin off all his pitches and not knowing if he regains that back or is actually 100% healthy im not sure how willing teams are going to want to give him a big base salary. I would be surprised if both Kluber and Paxton don't get heavily incentivezed contracts.
I'm dont have alot of interest in Walker, he's a decent mid to backend starter that lacks TOR upside like Kluber and Paxton. Walker pretty much is what he is and with German, Monty, Devi and Schmidt having similar capabilities and higher ceilings than Walker i don't think he's really a great fit. Id rather see them go after Tallon or other pitchers on the trade market
Kluber was out for one season because a line drive hit him in his pitching arm that is a freak accident . And a torn muscle this past season that is not as serious as a second TJ surgery . The Yankees have the money to get both kluber and dj . They have around 30 mill to spend right now . I would rather spend about 10 mill for kluber for one season than spend 3 mill plus prospects and or andujar on 2 years from a guy who’s elbow couldn’t even last 5 years in between TJ surgeries . And who is likely gonna be in the bullpen before his current contract is up. As for walker he could be a better option than taillon but not much better since he hasn’t shown he could be a torp yet .Quote:

Again kluber’s first injury was a freak accident that broke his arm that is hardly a concern to be worried about his durability . A one year contract with incentives only risks one season . There just isn’t that much of a risk there .Quote:

Paxton was pitching better before he got hurt . Kluber would only cost more money for one year. They both have pitched well for more than one season .Taillon has been in the majors for 5 years and has spent about half of those years recovering from TJ surgery . And just one good season Doesn’t mean he will do well for the Yankees , the AL is tougher to pitch in than the NL and that is a fact.Quote:
