His 3 early years with the marlins were really good.
2019 he seemed to have some bad luck based on his BABIP numbers being higher than his career average by a fair amount.
But, he alsk gave up a ton of home runs in 2019 as well.
Did not pitch last year(2020)

Kinda found this interesting, ESPN's Bradford Doolittle ranked our signing of Jhoulys Chacin as the best under the radar signing of any team this winter. Doolittle has apparently seen his pitch data from his workouts this winter and his numbers are back to his 2018 form.
Definitely not great that we have yet another pitcher that hasn't pitched since 18 but on an MILB deal its worth the risk. Doolittle feels like he could provide a bunch of slightly above league average innings for us that we could definitely use. He also went on to rave about what an excellent clubhouse guy Chacin is and how good he is at helping young pitchers develop as well.
With all the extremely talented, young pitchers we have coming soon, the more great veteran mentors that we have the better. Even if Chacin doesn't make the 26 man roster out of ST, he could still be very valuable helping the kids in AAA
Sounds like Kyle Barraclough actually has some legit talent. He was really good for a couple yrs with the Marlins but seemingly lost command of his SL and had to start throwing way more CU's. Thats when he started struggling.
He still has a big FB that sits 94-96 touching 98. He apparently spent last yr reworking his pitches and sounds like he found his SL again.
Kinda feels like a Rays, A's move where they pick up a BP arm that was elite in the past, help him retool and watch him turn back into a really good reliever again
He's on a minor-league deal with an invitation to Spring Training, risk / reward. He had some good seasons in Miami, 2.87 ERA in 166 games with a 96 FB. Beginning in 2018 he's been in decline. Dismal in 2019 with the Nats (6.66 ERA and 1.75 WHIP in 33 games), claimed off waivers by the Giants he registered a 2.25 ERA and 1.75 WHIP in 10 games, too small a sample to get excited.
^ fair point. I read somewhere that he spent all last yr and this winter reworking his motion to get his. Fb velo and his SL back.
It's 100% a lottery ticket type signing. If he regain his old form or anything close... awesome. If it never clicks for him no big deal.
He does have a couple very, very good seasons even though they were a couple yrs ago. With as volatile as relievers are its not hard to envision him having a bounce back yr.
I'd really be happy if they add a handful of these type relievers before STing. There are still alot of decent relievers and even a couple decent starters still available 2weeks from STing
True. Barraclough was part of the Padres organization for the condensed 2020 season but did not appear in a game at the major league level. The right-hander registered a mostly ugly 5.61 ERA, 1.75 WHIP, and 40/21 K/BB ratio over 33 2/3 innings of relief between the Nationals and Giants in 2019.
