those teams are hoarding specs, seriously?? their farms are stacked, if you trade everything away you never get a top 5 system.
How do you know how much Sevy will pitch? He could easily starter 15-20 games next yr mostly in the 2nd half. If he pitches like he did when he came back for those 3 games in 2019 he'll easily be our 2nd best pitcher and extremely valuable because that will impact the 2nd half and the playoffs. If they get 100 innings from him next yr that could be huge. We have no idea what his " safety breaks" are going to be other than they don't plan on him pitching the full yr which was expected.

Honest question what made you become a Yankee fan, seriously when did you become so hooked on the Yanks you want to spend 14 hrs a day on a forum talking about them. What makes u such a passionate Yankees fan that your willing to spend that much time on here. I started loving the Yanks after Jeters flip play but really became a huge fan when we got Arod.

Do you really think they are gonna let sevy make every scheduled start ? Especially towards the end of the season ? With restrictions and limitations they will likely have him on an innings limit to where he will likely be moved to the bullpen in the last month of the season . And on top of that it’s highly doubtful he goes more than 5 innings a start either . In 2019 he did have three starts but threw 12 innings , that’s just 4 innings a start . He could pitch well this season but with the limitations and restrictions they will have on him it’s likely he won’t have a great impact this season . They are gonna have a limit on everything this season for him . Innings limit , pitch count limit , and starts limit . That is why any positive impact he does have on the rotation will be limited . As for why I am such a huge yankee fan , I have been one since before cashman was the GM . Back when we had an owner that cares about winning the ws . What hooked me was their winning history . Something that hal and cashman could take a few lessons from .

In those 3 starts he was worth 0.6 war, had a 1.50 ERA with 17ks, 2R and 6BB. 3 starter he was worth 0.6 War, So .2 War pers start, based on 15-20 starts thats a 3.0-4.0 WAR pitcher. That was admittedly less than a 100 % and diminished stuff, 15 months out after TJS its not a stretch to expect him to atleast return to that level.

Thats a huge amounts of inferring of information because Cashman has said on 2 occasions Sevy would have "Safety brakes on" . The only other info that he gave out was they didn't expect Sevy to be a starter all yr, which we knew that he was going to miss the start of the yr anyways. Pitchers, especially being younger like Sevy are usually good for 80-120 innings the first yr after TJS.

The other thing is wouldn't you think that they would hold him back a little longer or pitch with a 3-4 inning limit when he first comes back so he's still in the rotation for the playoffs stretch and post season. I would think him being able to start at the end of the yr when he could have the most impact would be the most logical plan for him don't you?

I try to look to the silver linings in things you on the other hand ???

Cashman himself said they would have a system of brakes and limitations on severino this season . He wouldn’t have said that if they were gonna let him go full steam as soon as he rejoined the rotation . As for the playoffs , that depends on what kind of limitations they have for him . And it tends to take longer for a pitcher to get their command back than it does to actually pitch again after TJ . It is just not realistic to think he will be back to his 17 or 18 self right out of the gate . Just look at Monty , he wasn’t back to his 17 self last season and that was 2 years after his TJ surgery .

Monty is a bad example of your point because Monty relies on command, movement and pitch mix vs Sevy does it far more with power and stuff. Monty has never been close to as talented as Sevy either.

My Bro had 2 TJS, its more like 15-18 months for them to return to 95%-100% after the first TJS most of the time to return to normal. Some can be ready in as little as a yr but others take longer. That he's already throwing breaking balls from the mound at 90% means he's 3-4 months away max, barring any set backs. No one is saying he is going to go right back to his best form ever. If we got 100 IN from him with a mid 3 ERA and ready for the playoffs i'd take that in a heart beat but its not unrealistic

Until they say something we have no idea what the limitations they are going to be, best case its a educated guess. They'll very likely bring him back like they brought him back like last time, have sim start at 60-70 pitches and let him build up from there

Unless your bro had a long mlb career or was as good as sevy then he is not a good example either . If it was 3 to 4 months max then why are they holding him out until atleast June? That’s 5 months away .

The front office is full of bs , what a shocker. I said it before and I will say it again , if hal thinks he has lost a lot of money now , wait until fans stop renewing their season ticket packages when they start letting fans back into the stadium .

then it makes even less sense, if thats possible, that they let 4m keep them from seriously pursuing Carrasco and Lindor. I know your not as crazy about Lindor as i am but you have to admit getting those two for a similar package to what the Mets gave up would have been a solid fix to our biggest issues we have.

If they have some money, like this sale would imply, besides resign DJ they need to take advantage of what left of the rest of the FA market

Especially now that they are going to play a full 162 game schedule I don't think we have nearly enough pitching. Looking strictly at the FA market i really think they should be aggressive with Kluber. We have a pitching coach he knows well and succeeded with and he already works with our medical staff. With him trying to rebuild some value and show he can stay healthy it makes all the sense to make a strong run at him. I would think something like 1yr8m with another 6 or so in incentives if he hits all over them.

I know it would be a big risk but at the right price i would also bring back Paxton. There is just something about a big power LHed starter in YS i love and i'd like to have another LHed starter available. If his velo and spin rates are back to his norms, he has as high of a ceiling of anyone left. I'd offer a 5m base with another 3-5 in incentives.

Then they should absolutely no matter what being chasing a couple of power, mid inning BP arms. Rosenthal and Bradley would be great additions, neither should be cost a ton. I would bet both could be had for 8m combined.

I would also like to see them sign Aaron Sanchez to an MILB deal and see if Briend and Blake could either fix him or turn him into a reliever like Drew Pomeranz

So DJ at 22M, Kluber and Paxton for 13m and the 2 relievers for 8m. Its never going to happen but if Hal would go to the 220-225 range we could have a team with a much better chance of winning than what we currently have

Ten yrs in the Rays and Braves systems as a reliever. I never comped by bro's injuries to Sevy's you keep telling everyone how long it takes to usually come back from TJS and i know first hand for the majority of pitchers it 15-18 months , not 2yrs, before they 95-100%.

Why would they hold him out till June? usually they don't want to push an innings limit much past 100 IN. The later they start him they move likely he is going to still be available playoff time and that when they will need him most. Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine did a 10 yr study tracking TJS, they average age of pitchers getting the procedure was 27.4 and the average number of days till a return to competition was 452 days which it my math is right is just over 15 months.

He's a phenomenal player and a top 10 position player in the game.

He's just not on top when it comes to RISP.

Knowing some on this forum, I just can see the crying now when he doesn't come through in the clutch.

Here is an article that says it can take up to two years for a pitcher to completely recover from TJ surgery and possibly longer to get back his velocity , accuracy and action on the ball that he had before the surgery . So again with sevy it is premature to say he could be back to his 17 self this season . This season could be about getting his strength and his stuff back for next season .
