Yankees want Castillo, bottom line. Unclear if #Reds asking price will drop or stay the same. Clint Frazier, and Clarke Schmidt are players that have been discussed as a “starting point” in a potential deal.
Reds want Clint Frazier in any Castillo deal. They are also desperately wanting to unload the contracts of either Moustakas or Castellanos which could, in turn, drive the price down if the #Yankees are willing to take on either of said contracts. More to come.
Tanaka apparently looking for 15-20 million.
Doubt Yankees want to bring him back for that.
Not sure if he will get it either, obviously possible though.

I was listening to the MLB channel today and they had an interesting discussion on the Yankees.
1. Assuming the Jays nab Springer and/or Bauer, they considered them the team the beat in the AL East due to the flaws present on the Yankees roster, especially starting pitching outside of Cole.
2. Everyone felt Kluber was an overpay and there were much better options available (e.g. Walker). The consensus is that this version of Kluber is no better than a #4 and Yankees fans should be ecstatic if he makes 20 starts. In fact, they laughed at Yankee fans believing Kluber is a #2. The reasons mentioned were age, innings thrown, recent injury history and some statistics correlating to them.
3. The consensus on Sevy is that he won't be available until July and is not expected to contribute much this year after not pitching for close to 3 years. They considered this year more of a practice year for him getting used to pitching again. They also felt that Sevy would have to change the way he pitches and incorporate several more pitches because he wouldn't be able to thrown a sustained high 90s fastball over 7 innings anymore post injury.
Any thoughts?
That makes a lot of sense for the Reds. Take back additional money since Castillo is so cheap. If that's the case, then the Yankees are out. I've heard they have anywhere from $3-5 mil to spend, after considering in-season call ups.
If taking on additional money is a requirement, then my money is on the Jays. They have at least $60 mil to spend.
Obviously take it for what it's worth.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2252e5d9d6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3ee53cf303.jpg

I saw the same tweet and was about to post about it. Looks like the trade will involve a bat coming from the Reds to the Yankees. Eugenio Suarez maybe?
1. Sounds like you were listening to a bunch of Yankee haters. Will the Blue Jays be improved if they get 1 of Bauer/ Springer? yeah but i'm thinking whoever you were listening to was under estimating us and over estimating the Jays
2. According to multiple sources we weren't even the high bidders on Kluber. He had 25 teams at his workout and he gets signed 3-4 days later, he must have looked pretty good. Kluber knows how to pitch, he's never been a high velo guy so he doesn't need to throw 95 plus to be effective. He's a control/change speeds/ eye levels ect type pitcher, those are the type of pitchers that age well.
Kluber has been working with Cressey for a long time, so we had some serious inside info on Kluber. If Cressey had concerns its highly doubtful the Yanks would have signed him. Kluber also has a history of working with Blake. If there is any team thats going to get the most from Kluber its us.
Walker may have been healthier but at his best he's been a mid rotation starter, he doesn't have anything close to the ceiling Kluber does. Id we get 80-90 % of Kluber, IMO that going to be better than any other FA starter left outside of Bauer.
Klubers shoulder injury didn't require surgery and that makes that injury alot less concerning for his recovery. He was 88-91 with good spin and location in his showcase. Lots of people are saying he's done because of the velo but that about right 3-4weeks away from ST. When he was so dominant he was 92-94, he could easily get back to that range by the start of ST
Its a high risk/ high reward type signing. Are there risks absolutely but it could easily be one of the better signing this winter. Also Kluber only wanted a 1yr deal because he is betting on himself and that tells me he believes he can have a big bounce back yr IMO
3 Sevy is already throwing breaking balls off a mound at 90% so barring a setback he should be ready by June. When Sevy came back for those 3 games in 19 after the lat/ shoulder injury he was still throwing 97-98. I would have been far more concerned with him loosing alot of velo from that VS TJS. Young pitcher, Sevy's on 25-26, often come back throwing harder from TJS.
I have always thought Sevy should add a 2 seam/ cutter but do i think he will have to add multiple pitches to stay effective, not really.
There will be alot of rust to knock off but he's to young and has been to good in the past just to write
IMO, whoever you were listening to were Yankee haters, probably the same people Eeyore listens to, and are thinking/ hoping worst case scenario for us.
I don't see Yankees taking on all that salary without dumping some. A three team trade makes more sense.
