I agree on that but the mets dont need starting pitching help as much as the Yankees do . The mets have Degrom, stroman and then in the summer Thor . What the mets really need is bullpen help and a bat . Besides I think Bauer goes to either the mets or out west in the al .

The Mets and Yankees both need SP but the Yankees can win the WS in 2021. You don't spend 300+million on Cole, acquire a 300 million contract in Stanton, re-sign LeMahieu at over 100 million dollars (presumably) to just win the AL East. If any team needed a SP like Darvish it was the Yankees. Their rotation is Cole, a whole bunch of young arms, and a returning Severino who you hope can be what he was in 2018.

you have a better chance of winning the lottery then the yanks winning the world series in 2021..

i would take the mets starting rotation over the yanks..

I think what mets fan meant was that with the money they are spending on cole , Stanton and presumably dj , there is no excuse to suddenly go cheap on the rotation behind cole .

yankees starting staff is so bad for a team that wants to be compete for the world series that is a fact no one can deny.

I have to agree with you, you don't spend all that money on Cole just to win the East. Darvish was attainable and certainly a need for the Yankees. I'd rather have Darvish for 3 yrs 60M then try to sign Bauer for 6-7 years 150+M.

With luck (players stay healthy) I believe like you said, that the Yankees can win the 2021 WS....but not with the current rotation. Still waiting for Cashman to do something about it.

We all know the offense is sufficient, if healthy (which we know is not possible). I'd prefer some lefties and more bat to ball hitters, but it works.

Bullpen needs some additions, but its out there for anyone willing to spend.

But, I really don't see many options out there that solve the problem that is the starting rotation. Again, I don't view Bauer and Castillo as realistic. Anyone have any ideas?

Castillo is realistic if cashman would get off his butt And stop with the man crushes on unproven prospects. And Bauer could be realistic if cashman would simply let dj walk .

I was just making a general observation. Most teams need SP. The Yankees and Mets have the luxury to pry SP (and other talented players) away from teams who are looking to dump payroll. The Mets rotation has enough of its own unknowns and we play in arguably the toughest division in baseball. The Yankees have a real opportunity here though. The Rays took a step back, the AL East is there for them to take, and the only thing they lack imo to winning a WS is SP.

Got to be out there aggressive like the Padres were imo.

That’s the thing , cashman is not known to be aggressive when it comes to trades . He is Also aggressive on the fa market once every 7 to 10 years .

Not realistic for the reasons you mentioned. In addition, the Reds are not forced to trade Castillo this year. He's ARB 1. They need to be wowed with cheap controllable assets.

Cashman made the same mistakes as the Cubs with young talent. Held them too long. Guys like Andujar, Frazier (and I love both of them), Torres (not saying I would move him) just don't have value to a team like the Reds at this point that wanna cut costs and rebuild.

I agree with your statement earlier. Its time to sell and collect assets for guys like Judge if we aren't going all in. No way to really be a serious playoff threat with starting pitching.
