yanks if they resign dj will just be treading water next year.. the pitching is not up to championship caliber.. it is hard to be hopeful for next year as a yankees fan...i expect the same old inconsistent pitching major injuries failure to hit in the clutch in the post season...
Buster Olney is reporting that DJ wants 5yr100 from the Yanks and is willing to take a discount to stay here. Yanks so far are reluctant to guarantee a 4th yr much less a 5th
Olney also reporting that the Dodgers are heavily considering making a run at DJ to play mainly 3rd but also a little 2nd and 1st. He said he considers the Dodgers to be our biggest threat to loosing DJ. He absolutely is prioritizing playing for an immediate winner.
Sounds like Kluber is down to 3 teams, Us, Boston and the Mets being a distant 3rd
Were being heavily connected to both Schwarber and Bradley after being non tendered yesterday.
Personally i don't see Schwarber as a fit unless they move 2 of Stanton, Judge, Sanchez and Voit. We already have enough power, high k guys
Id love to get Bradley he could handle the 6th-7th inning role and give us power RHed bp arm
Goodbye DJ. Helloo, Jed Lowrie!
Gary with another bomb. Realize it's winter ball pitching, but maybe he's finding his stroke, his eye and some confidence. That said, would still ship his azz in a heartbeat! :D

I couldn't agree with you more.
We need a legitimate #2 and #3. We can hold down the fort at #4 and #5 with some combination of German, Monty, Deivi, and Schmidt. I'm not even counting on Sevy. We have no clue what he will be after 3 years of not pitching and major elbow surgery.
Remove Bauer from the equation and they are going to be tough gets. Tanaka can fill the #3 roll, but not if the dollars and years aren't reasonable. No reason to invest big on a #3.
And for those of you mentioning Kluber. He's doesn't fill the void, especially coming off shoulder surgery. Stop gap at best and a team in its window should not be looking to stop gap starting pitching.
I like Castro and Muscgrove (more of a risk). But they are not realistic options.
Anyone have any realistic suggestions?
I also think the bullpen needs to be reconstituted, especially since the starting pitching looks like its not going to have any true upper echelon arms outside of Cole. Anyone have any realistic suggestions here?
I guess the point is that DJ, Lindor and anyone else we conjure up for position player additions is useless with the pitching the way it stands now. FYI-next years FA pitching class doesn't look too great either outside of Thor (who I assume will be extended by the new Mets).
As I re-read my post, it screams to me go big or the window is closed. In the latter scenario, I'd just make moves
to re-tool for 2022/2023 like we did in 2016. We still have a ton of talent which can yield some solid prospects and another quick re-tool to open a new window.
I don't know.
I don't like the lineup as it stands but there is no doubting the potential production. If they simply re-signed DJ and kept everything as is, brought back Tank and sign Kleuber, your rotation isn't upgraded by any means but if German and the other young guys step up, it could be a solid rotation. Then make a move at the deadline for a TORP and you are in business for a title run.
There's not much to blow up.
You could let DJ walk. Trade Voit while his value is high. Try to move Hicks. Trade Judge while he's cheap. Trade Sanchez
If they let DJ walk they should trade for Lindor. I would consider using Judge to do that. They can't move Stanton and I think one of those two needs to go.
If not, use Andujar and Garcia to start the process.
I would then bring back Gardner on a one year deal because he's cheap or you could grab Bantley for a couple years as a stop gap
That gives you a really good, young IF. Lindor-Torres-Voit-Urshela
If you moved Judge your OF looks like Hick-Frazier-Brantley or Garnder/Stanton/Tauchman
I don't think they are blowing anything up. I think they may move Andujar, Frazier (would be a mistake unless it yielded a Bieber type pitcher), Garcia, Sanchez and if they signed Schwarber, they would move Voit.
My feeling is they sit tight till the deadline.
