Eagles was the one who said he would bet significant money . I never challenged him to any bet . So I have no idea why you are trying to challenge me to a bet .

I didn’t challenge him to any bet though . I only questioned his declaration like you said . You on the other hand are challenging me to a bet for no reason . I never said for sure the Yankees would have a worse record than the mets next season especially since the off season is far from over yet . But if things keep going the way they are going and the mets get the players they are close to getting , it is a strong possibility and you can’t deny that . And as long as there are so many free agents out there that are unsigned I won’t be betting on anything .
Is there an emoji for weasel?
Jones also questioned eagles ‘s declaration by sticking to his opinion that the mets would have a better line up and team if they got the players they are rumored to get and then furthered questioned it by saying the mets clearly have the better starting pitching . He just didn’t do it in the same words as I did . Now why didn’t you challenge him to a bet as well?
You answered your own question. It was the way in which you couched it. You aggressively challenged Eagle's opinion. Jone's disagreed but did not challenge imo.
We can all agree to disagree on any issue. However when disagreement spills over into an aggressive (imo) challenge it takes on a somewhat different appearance. I accepted your challenge. If you feel so strongly and vehemently believe the Mets will have a better record than the Yankees, I am simply asking you to defend the position. In simple terms, put your money where your mouth is or in even simpler terms put up or shut up.
first you said I challenged his declaration and when I pointed out that Jones did as well you go and say that “in your opinion” I was being “more aggresive” with my challenge . If I had responded to you like that you would accuse me of moving the goal posts and in this case rightfully so . And Actually the opinion that the mets would finish with a better record than the Yankees next season was not originally mine it was Jones who originally held that opinion and then , according to your definition , eagles aggressively challenged that opinion by saying he would bet money that the yanks would have a better record than the mets next season . All I did was agree with what Jones said and just asked him if he would still bet money like he said he would if certain things happened this off season . I never said I would take any such bet at all or that I was willing to take any bet . I never even asked him to bet that money right now either . You on the other hand demanded me to take a bet now .
I will not waste one more pixel on this discussion.
My final word. If you believe the Mets will finish with a better record than the Yankees accept my proposition. A lot in your favor. Better rotation. Better line up. Deep pocket owner willing to spend, make a splash and steal the back pages of the NY dailies.
If you are wrong you agree to leave forever. If I am wrong I agree to resign as moderator. Deal?
Let’s see how the off season goes first. Like I said to eagles before if certain things happen and don’t happen this off season i do feel the mets will be better than the yanks . To make a bet right now on that makes no sense at all . I didn’t even expect that from eagles when I challenged his assertion .
Doc, you are aware that there are a couple posters who would take that bet and then after losing ,deny they did? They would say we misread their post and say it was unfair that people were suggesting otherwise.
Even if presented with their own post, verbatim in a quote that a said "If the Yankees finish with aa better record than the Mets, I will leave the forum for good"
They would claim that since player A had a better average than player B, it negates the bet because that team was the better team but they didn't finish with the better record..
They are so weak they would welch on the bet and do so by attempting to lie their way out of it
