This is a bad year for players to hit FA. They don't realize it perhaps but they're going to. I know these players won't risk it but some of these guys should try their hand again in 2022 when fans can fully return to games.

Actually the yanks offer was 4 years 84 mill . And to be honest I wouldn’t budge from that offer either .

i do not think dj is coming back. when the yanks want someone they go all out and get it done quickly.. the fact that dj is still unsigned leads ms me to believe he is not coming back
I don't mean to keep harping on you, but you're wrong. The Mets getting Lindor hurts DJ. As Metswon69 said, the Mets were one of the few teams we know are willing to add big contracts. With the Mets off the table, DJ's market shrunk by ~25%. Even without Lindor, the Yanks could trade for a rental like Story, or just grab Didi or Simmons on a one year contract. There are going to be a lot of desperate players available at the beginning of the season.
I am not wrong , cashman doesn’t think big enough to make a trade like one for story and he won’t do a thing until dj decides . The free agents hold most of the cards because no one knows for sure if there will even be baseball next season after this one simply because the players agreement runs out after this season . Dj has some leverage because of those two scenarios . He can afford to wait out the Yankees , but the question is can the Yankees afford to wait him out ? That is where dj holds atleast a little leverage . There are two logical reasons why dj hasn’t signed yet . One is that he wants years over money , and the second more likely scenario is that his desire to return to the Yankees has been exaggerated by the media . Maybe he is simply waiting for a similar offer to what the yanks gave him .
Mets congrats on getting Carrasco and Lindor. You guys made a great, great deal and kept your top 2 specs. When Thor gets back you guys might have the best rotation in baseball. You have to be seriously excited about the future
I didn’t didn’t know both carrasco and lindor were going to be traded together . And I changed my mind on carrasco simply because I compared him to Tanaka . And if it’s either Tanaka or carrasco I would choose carrasco .
Plus back then when I said I didn’t want carrasco , snell and darvish were still options . The only other option after they were traded was Castillo . So again with what was left out there , carrasco was the best fit .
With what you guys have done so far you deserve to brag a bit even in here but i appreciate it. I'm glad someone is confident that were bring him back because i'm not so sure. If it comes down to a 5th yr i think they let him walk. 5yrs110m is to long for a big bodied infielder who will be playing next season at 32-33. IMO bring him back is just a lateral move.
That deal u guys made would have been a far better move in both the short and long term IMO. If we had made that deal our offseason would have pretty much been done. They could have waited till closer to ST to pick up a BP arm or 2
I think dj comes back simply because I doubt anyone offers him the 5th year . If he doesn’t come back it will simply be because someone else offers him a similar or slightly better offer money wise than what the Yankees offered . I think the reason he hasn’t resigned yet is because I don’t think he really wants to come back to the Yankees . As for what the mets did , they simply made the best deal I have seen in a long time . One that cashman would never have the fortitude to do .
Not quite how i remember it but hey whatever you have to tell yourself to sleep at night.
i don't think Snell was ever really an option for us because I highly doubt Tampa would have traded him within their division. I agree i would have rather had Darvish than Carrasco. That said Carrasco was still damn good last yr.
Allowing DJ to back them into the corner they are in now was just plain stupid. They are now stuck with either likely giving him 5yrs or letting him walk, neither are great options. Signing a 32 yr old middle infielder to a big contract for 4-5 yrs isn't the smartest option.
What are they going to do with DJ and Gleyber if there plan really is to go after one of the premier SS next winter? . Trading for Lindor and Carrasco, especially for such an unbelievably cheap price should have been option A. Now they are almost being forced to give DJ what he wants and IMO that not the best move to sign him as our 2nd baseman for the next 4-5yrs.
Torres who was on the verge of super stardom had a horrible season on both sides of the ball until last yr. Yes its a SSS but he didn't look comfortable, especially defensively. I realize they have a completely different players but it still scare they crap out of me that Torres is going to focus so much defensively that it effects his offense, similar to what happened with Sanchez
I don’t think they allowed dj to back them into the corner they are in . I think they are just using dj as an excuse because they never planned to really do anything this off season outside of possibly bringing one or two of their own back . I said 3 months ago not to expect much more than that from them and so far I have been right
