I agree about Bell. He really isn't an ideal add to this lineup. I'm guessing Voit would be flipped for pitching, I think Cleveland is looking for a younger, larger type package for Lindor.

They need a direction this off season, just adding DJ, especially for 5yrs, makes no sense if they aren't going to put together a good enough roster to win next yr. DJ is a win now move but unless they fix the pitching, at minimum, they have no shot at winning the WS. DJ has been our best player but he's still a middle infielder headed into his mid 30's, the decline for those kind of players is extremely sharp. They have alot of work to do on the rest of the roster if they think they are going to seriously compete for a WS.

Everyone is reporting that the Yanks are preparing to make a run at one of the elite SS in the 21 class. We have a ton of very good talent in the system that is essentially blocked, not to mention no place to play with all the MILB teams being cut, that should be used as trade bait. Instead of taking a chance that Lindor is traded and sign somewhere else they should just make the move for him this winter. Even if they do little else it would set us up better in the long run. The Dodgers showed how we what we should do with the Betts trade, they saw one of the better players in baseball that fit their needs long term and didn't want to risk not getting him. We should do the exact same thing for Lindor. We are already planning on going after an elite SS next yr, why not guarantee we get the best one that could change the direction of the franchise

I don’t think a guy with two TJ surgeries in 5 years is worth trading for , especially one with no experience in the AL

I don't think Bell would mean they move on from Voit. I think Bell would be a backup/DH who would be given a chance to rebound. They wouldn't move on from Voit's MVPish level bat to Bell for no good reason.

What the hell does having AL experience have to do with it. Lots of NL pitchers transfer their performance from the NL to the AL. Its a low cost, low risk/ high reward trade. If Taillon hits maybe he's a pretty good mid rotation starter for us for less than 3m next yr. If he can't make it in the rotation, then maybe he becomes a solid reliever, either way for less than 2.5m its worth the risk. Trading Florial who is essentially blocked, if he ever figures out how to make contact, especially with 2-3 far more talented CFer coming very fast behind him. Why not move him now for someone who could possibly help us much more next yr?

That’s the thing the Yankees need a number 2 starter not a guy who could “ possibly “ be a number 3 starter and can be moved to the bullpen if he doesn’t work out . We already have that in German . And the Yankees already have a guy with durability issues in sevy , and possibly 2 if they were to bring back Paxton cheap . Why add yet another pitcher with durability issues ?

No. Josh Bell would be useless on this team. Where would they play him? Also would you prefer 2 years of control for Bell or 4 years for Andujar/Voit? Taillon? No. The yankees can probably find someone in free agency just as good and not have to give anything up for him.

If they bring him on they wouldn't be counting on Taillon as their number 2, he's essentially a major league lottery ticket. He's only going to cost 2.5m next yr and would only cost a prospect that realistically doesn't have much of a path to the majors with us. If he regains his previous stuff and performs well in either the rotation or the BP he's far more likely to contribute more than Florial would in the next 2yrs. They are simply taking a chance on his upside hoping he could contribute more than Monty, Schmidt or whatever other young, inexperienced pitchers they could be planning on using in the rotation.

Yes the Yanks need a #2 but in this market and with their self imposed payroll restriction they aren't or won't go out and spend 25m plus to get that perfect #2 starter, especially when Sevy is coming back. Because of their money restriction they are likely going to piece together a rotation for the 1st half and hope Sevy could be the #2 we need when he comes back. Not what we want as a fans but likely whats going to happen.

Taillon, is tremendously talented and has incredible stuff like velo and high spin rates that the Yanks love. He's likely only to cost a non top 10 prospect or 2 and 2.5m next yr. He offers the perfect combo of high upside talent, low acquisition cost, while being low risk, because of cost vs talent and cheap salary. Not much of a chance to lose big on the Yanks part

Paxton, who you spent the last yr saying you wouldn't bring back at any cost, has an incredibly high injury risk factor and completely lost his stuff last yr, represents a huge risk and would likely cost atleast 2-3 times more than Taillon with similar upside

They aren't trading for Gray because of the disaster he was here last time, he demonstrated zero ability to be able to handle pitching in YS, so not sure why we'd pay a premium to bring him back with the likely chance he become Pavano 2.0. So where are you going to get this #2 the Yanks so desperately need in this market and with their payroll restrictions without giving up Dominguez plus?

Great that doesn't bode well for our already tight payroll situation

Cashman said DJ LeMahieu's "true value" is at 2B and the offense he brings there. Plan isn't to sign him to play 1B full-time w/ the idea of moving Luke Voit in mind.
If they think DJ's true value is at 2nd and Torres better position is 2nd base and they are planning on making a big run at one of the FA SS from next yrs class, where are they all going to play? They wouldn't be stupid enough to trade Torres, would they. The info coming out makes you seriously wonder what direction they are planning for the future

The Yanks have already resigned Nestor Cortes and Adam Warren to MILB deals and Olney has mentioned we are talking with Drob. While those guys have pitched well for us in the past and MILB deals aren't going to hurt us much, if this is their idea of upgrading the BP we in trouble.

We lost arguably, our best reliever in Kahnle. We desperately need a power RHed arm to replace him and counting on Otto to bounce back would be a bad mistake. Go get Rosenthall, Bradly or 1 of the other very good relievers that are available for cheap this winter. With how cheap BP arm are this winter there is absolutely no reason they shouldn't add atleast one top guy to replace Kahnle
