Not as weak as saying 18 wins in a juiced ball season makes giving German a rotation spot a no brainer ....

Hmm look at this, in 2019 , when German did get those 18 wins . He was 9-0 in the 11 starts that the yanks scored atleast 6 runs in, and his era was over 5 in those 11 games . Looks like run support was atleast a pretty good factor for half his wins that year. Now I see why they say wins loss records can be overrated. And btw 2 of his wins came from the bullpen . So in reality he had 16 wins as a starter and more than half came in games the yanks scored atleast 6 runs for him

Like you said before , just quit man . I just proved that the wins and win % didn’t mean as much as you think they did. . Especially when two of his wins came from the bullpen . Just check out the link I posted and look at his run support numbers .
As for Ivan nova . He has had only 2 seasons that he finished with anything below a 4 era . He is a middle of the rotation pitcher at best who’s best season overall was when he had a 3.70 era with 16 wins . And the very next season he had 12 wins with over a 5 era . His last full season with the white Sox he had a 4.72 era with 12 wins .
Moving the goal posts big time man . We are only talking about German and his 2019 season . To compare him to great pitchers with long careers is only avoiding the obvious , the main reason why German got so many wins that one season is mostly because of run support . Not because of how “ great” he is . One thing you left out is that German pitched to over a 5 era in those 11 starts that he got 9 wins from . That is far from great .
No Jorge, you distort the truth to suit your own agenda. My point, EVEN GREAT pitchers benefit from run support, it's not a negative or condemnation just the benefit of playing on a good team. Conversely there are hard luck pitchers, Felix Hernandez 2011 comes to mind when he led the league in ERA but had a pedestrian 13-12 record on the year. Hernandez still won the AL Cy Young Award despite a lack of support from the 61-win Mariners. Jacob deGrom had the best ERA in the entire National League (1.71) in 2018, but didn't get any run support (3.9). In turn, he has just five wins on the season. By comparison, NL ERA leader — Clayton Kershaw — finished with 18 wins in 2017.
We shall see soon enough. He will start the season in rotation barring any set backs. I hope for the best. You on the other hand expect the worse.
If he starts the season in the rotation then the Yankees are likely in trouble . And you are the one distorting things because you keep ignoring the fact that his era was 5 and higher during 15 of his 24 starts that year which is just not good at all . And guess what you only proved my point correct in that wins and win % shouldn’t be a big factor of how good a pitcher does . Both Felix and degrom proved it . Felix won the cy young because of his era and other numbers , the lack of wins didn’t matter . German had a 4.28 era as a starter that season, like it or not that is not very good . the yanks moved him to the bullpen that year for a reason and it was not likely because of any innings limit since he only pitched 135 innings when he was moved to the pen .
where did i say i expected him to step in and be our #2 right away or at any point. I said "From the looks of it he would definitely be an upgrade to what we currently have behind Cole". That doesn't mean our #2 that means in any spot behind Cole. I am fairly confident that a healthy German, which he appeared to be, is at least better right now than guys like King, Nelson, Loaisiga and Yajure who would be in line for the 5th starter spot if the season started today.
