Clev wasn't really a big miss in hindsight because he got injured, missed time and now is out with TJ and won't be back in their rotation until 2022.

Snell wouldn't have be realistic because of in division(as you mentioned) and he seems like a 5 inning guy. Doesn't go deep.

Darvish was an interesting option.

I like Castillo and I'd be willing to give up anyone not named The Martian, Cole and Torres. Anyone else is fair game.

Kluber is a good buy low option.

Would absolutely love Hand. Could replace Kanhle, a huge loss for the Yanks playoffs push.

Tall I would take a chance on, if it's a damaged goods swap.

Short term gratification (win now) vs. long term vision. A convincing argument can be made from both sides of the aisle. Personally I prefer to give home grown talent an opportunity, particularly one as highly rated (and yes touted) as Dominguez. Professional scouts do not throw around Trout and Cabrerra comps lightly.

On the other hand I completely understand the win now mentality, disagree but understand. While a successful franchise for decades,** World Series Appearances: 4 (2000 Champions, 2001, 2003, 2009 Champions) LCS Appearances: 9 (2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2012,2017, 2019) Division Titles: 10 (2000, 2001, 2003-2006, 2009, 2011, 2012,2019) }, they haven't won the golden ticket in quite some time. Arguably the most successful franchise since 2000, piling up regular season wins, playoff appearances, division titles, league pennants, and World Series trophies. The fan base is getting testy and impatient, frustrated with the perceived mediocrity and unwillingness of upper management to rectify the short comings. I get it.

When you have won 27 championships you are held to a different standard. Expectation higher, room for failure negligible. The "ain't my money" contingent the most boisterous, unrelenting and unrealistic in their demand.

Trading an 18 year old player who has not played a single inning of professional baseball here in the US for a proven torp like Castillo who is cheap and under team control for the next 4 years is not an overpay . Trading ANYTHING for a guy who has had 2 TJ surgeries in 5 years is a serious overpay , especially when there are two injury prone pitchers in Paxton and kluber than can had for only cash .

They haven’t been racking up any pennants or ws for 11 years now , one of the longest droughts in team history , why shouldn’t yankee fans be getting testy ? All we have heard for 15 years now is “ let’s give the prospects a try and build around them “ and what has that gotten them ? One ws appearance in the last 17 years . And that was only because hal opened his wallet and bought the players they needed .

11 years Jorge? I guess the 3 appearances don't count and ultimate losses to the cheating Astros in two of the three years is irrelevant? But your right, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Being the most successful franchise since 2000 and winningest team in MLB history is also irrelevant. There are different factors with this deal that make it not an overpay . First of all Castillo is younger than snell or darvish and costing less . Second Castillo has 4 years left of team control unlike snell and darvish . Then there is the fact that cashman doing nothing while other options have been taken off the table has now left the Yankees in such a bind that something has to be done about the rotation that might cost more than it would have if he had done it a month ago . So yeah any team that is in discussions with the yanks would have every right to ask for more from the yanks than anyone else now . The situation they are in now is 100% the result of cashman and no one else .

Yes 11 years with no ws and no ws appearances is one of the largest droughts in team history . Those multiple ws appearance and pennants you talk about happened BEFORE 2004 . Since 2004 the Yankees have been in just one ws . And currently that 11 season drought is their 3rd largest ws drought in team history , and second longest in the last 100 years . And again it is 11 seasons since 10 ,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20 is 11 seasons .

The Yankees are one of the richest franchises in sports if not the richest , spending on the players needed should be an option . All I am asking the front office to do is address a great need and if you don’t want spend then trade for it . They have the damned prospects to do it . So I say do it before they end up wasting cole’s prime years and all that money they gave him .

All I am asking is for the Yankees to spend the 30 mill they have available on the area of their greatest need and that is the rotation .

I also find it just a bit hypocritical that you get on me for wanting hal to spend “on everyone” when you wanted hal to sign both DJ and Lindor and then , understandably , you got upset when the Yankees didnt add both carrasco and lindor to their payroll via trade .

You also wanted hal to open his wallet for lindor and carrasco so why are you getting on my case for me wanting hal to spend too ? Yes I want the Yankees to spend their money on an area of great need if they aren’t gonna trade for it . And their area of greatest need is the starting rotation . And in case you forgot as of right now they still have 30 mill to spend too. So what exactly is your point ? I can tell you my point , my point in that post you quoted is that the last time they got to and won a ws was when the Yankees used their resources to to fully address their greatest need and that was the starting rotation . And they didn’t fully address it until they got cole last season . And now thanks to to TJ surgery and age , they are in great need of starting pitching again

Incorrect with Snell. They are both 28 for the 2021 season. They are both under team control for 3 more years, not 4. I’d also guess that Snell ends up being cheaper than Castillo after this year. He signed a team friendly 5 year 50 million deal. So while castillo is cheaper this year, I doubt he ends up being cheaper after 2021. That being said, I also would rather have Snell from a skill standpoint. Wouldn’t be mad at having either one, but I’d take the former Cy winner with a proven track record in the AL East.

Oh I wanted snell instead of Castillo too but I never thought that would happen since teams usually don’t trade within their division . The only choices left to actually improve the rotation is Bauer/Castillo or go with injury prone pitchers and hope for the best . So that is is why I really want Castillo now .

Oh and snell is making 11 mill this season , 12.5 mill next season and 16 mill the following season so I don’t think Castillo will be making more than 16 mill in 2 years . It’s possible but not likely

Yes I want Hal to spend. I think you missed my point. Win now vs long term strategy and vision. My comments was quite specific and couched in specific terms, which you have chosen to ignore. You don't trade a talent like Dominguez for a short term gain, when he could become a franchise player. Nothing is guaranteed I understand, however when you have career professionals effusive in their praise and assessment you take notice. You listen and heed the advice. This kid is special and only 17!

Could he be a bust? Sure the possibility exists. Remote but possible. Imo also likely a pitcher (insert your current fave) blows out an elbow and is lost to TJ surgery for 2 years. I agree a #2 is important, but I don't believe it's critically important to the point that Yankees sacrifice the future (Dominguez). You may recall, I said I loved Lindor BUT he was a luxury NOT a necessity. I was pissed as were most that he went to the Mets for a package that IMO Yanks could have matched.

The problem as I saw it, Hal wasn't going for both Lindor and DJ, it was either or, not both.
