Carrasco is not worth the gamble , the yanks would be stuck with him until he is 37 . With lindor they would adding about 40 mill to their payroll , probably more and it doesn’t make much sense

Agree. And if helps net Lindor at reduced cost...win-win imo.
How is that win win ? Being stuck with an aging pitcher until he is 37 paying him 14 mi at the last year of his contract . It won’t reduce the cost at all since the Indians will want good cheap pitching in return like Garcia or Schmidt . It would be foolish to trade for Carrasco
I agree Day, Carrasco is not expensive, he may be too expensive for Cleveland. I would hope his health issues are being dealt with and he recovers completely. .I recall not too long ago before he signed this last deal many on this board were drooling at the prospect of landing him.
I would take my chances with kluber instead , he would cost much less than carrasco money wise . And not more than 2 years .
‘I think he’s back’: Yankees’ Marcus Thames knows what was wrong with Gary Sanchez in 2020
The hit doctor is in.
New York Yankees hitting coach Marcus Thames says he knows what was wrong with catcher Gary Sanchez, who hit a career-low .147 in 2020. Per the New York Post:
“He felt like 2020 was a disaster for him. He knows it. ... We watched a lot of video and he wasn’t slowing the game down with his lower half. He wasn’t staying behind the ball and he wasn’t recognizing pitches, so he was swinging at a lot of bad pitches, and swinging and missing. He normally doesn’t do that. We detected some things and I think he’s back.”

Getting Gary back to his early career numbers would be phenomenal and a huge win for the team.
I'd even take him being average.
But, I'll reserve judgement until I see him actually preforming at the level he's actually capable of.

Carrasco/Lindor is a mute point. Yankees are only $30 mil below cap. Assuming they close on DJ, they won't have the budget left to buy anyone specific. So any conversations regarding Carrasco, Darvish, etc. are wasted breath.
The best and only realistic option is to overpay for Castillo. He will cost around $6 mil.
