Neither would I but you can’t argue that he makes the mets rotation deeper and better than the Yankees . If they get just springer they could give the dodgers a run for the money .

The Mets actually getting relevant is good news for the Yankees. Hal may love money, but I doubt he will be comfortable with the Mets becoming the dominant team in New York. As it stands, the Yankees are still the better team, but it just got a lot closer. I am excited to see what happens next. Hal and Yankees brass are not going to want to see the Mets dominate the Daily News and Post's back pages. He will be forced to respond. Just watch.
Hal is not gonna do anything to directly respond to this . And I just don’t see how the Yankees are still better than the mets right now , even with dj . The mets gave the yanks problems last season and now got much better while the yanks haven’t .
In a 60 game season, the Mets were 7 games worse than the Yankees. The Yankees got to the ALCS. The Mets failed to make the playoffs. The Mets just got better, but they need to do much more to be the better team.
Also remember, the Mets have essentially no farm. They will have to use money for EVERYTHING they do to improve. No help is coming through their system. The Yankees have a bunch of extremely exciting youngsters and if even a few are as good as we hope (esp. the young pitchers), then the Yankees will be far better than the Mets (not just significantly better as they are now).
So, cheer up, or be as non-miserable as you can be. The Yankees will win plenty of games that you refuse to watch. ;)
And, we can watch Hal and co. respond to what the Mets are doing. Trust me, they will respond.
You can talk all you want about the Yankees farm system but I don’t get excited about a prospect until after he is in the majors . And I am talking about which is the better team right now , and right now that is the mets . You can dream about the how great the yanks prospects COULD be in 2 or 3 years but I am talking about right now and this season .
I also don’t have the faith in hal to do anything substantial after this . I mean what did he do after seeing his team owned by the Astros in 15 while seeing the mets win a pennant and go to the World Series ? Look what happened to the Yankees in 16 .....
Stellar performance by Cashman, per usual.
C’mon Cashmanites...........get on the boards and defend your man.
In terms of trade value Gimenez is about equal to Frazier and the rest of the 3 would be worth about what our 3 specs from our 10-25 range would be a similar deal. I would say Frazier, Florial, Caanon Smith and Yoendrys Gomez would be about of similar value. They gave up 1 big asset and 3 meh guys. This was a great, great trade by the Mets
This is the exact trade, especially at this price, that i have been talking and wanting the Yanks to make this move. If the Mets get Lindor to sign an extention, which i'm not giving up hope just yet, this is a huge, huge win and a black mark on us for not pulling this deal off. At that price it would have been a total no brainer for us... STupid, Stupid, Stupid for the Yanks to pass on this deal
Thanks Day. I had a feeling it may have been comparable. Honestly never heard of the Mets specs in the deal.
It’s all because cashman is holding up their entire off season waiting on dj instead of doing the right thing and moving on like I said he should do . I said three months ago on the first page of this thread that cashman and Hal wouldn’t do much this off season and I have been exactly right so far . 2018 should be enough to o know what to expect from that sorry excuse of a front office these days
One of the "specs" was Rosario. Wasn't he the guy that was being compared with Gleyber Torres, before Torres became a success and Rosario flamed out? If so, for that reason and because they would be competing in the same league, Cleveland might have wanted someone like Andujar in the deal in addition to Frazier.
perfect analogy buddy. It was a good idea when i made the suggestion but now thats over.... Carrasco and Lindor was the exact package i have wanted the Yanks to trade for all winter.... With as little as the Mets gave up, especially if they can re sign Lindor, it was a mistake of epic proportions for the dumb, dumb twins ( Hal and Cash) not to have beaten this offer
Gimenez is a big time SS prospect, If Peraza had had last yr to develop a bit more that would be a fairly similar comp. Rasario was a top spec now he's more of a younger utility player. Wolf is a 55 grade starting pitcher spec that is 3-4 yrs away. He comps to any number of our mid tier pitching spec. Greene is another 50 grade of spec that is also 3-4 yrs away and we easily have 10 OF specs that have a similar grade/ceiling as him.
Gimenez is a big time specs but the rest or just above throw in level
