Check the stats Jorge. Baseball Reference has it at 143. He made 24 starts and 27 appearances. Are you splitting hairs and claiming the innings not as a starter? When Yanks may have used an opener? If thats the case the same applies to Tanaka he has one more appearance than start.

You check the stats again , he did start 24 games but he pitched in 27 , that means he pitched in relief for 3 games , and in those 3 games he pitched a total of 8.1 innings . And since we were talking about his 24 starts then we must then only talk about he innings he threw as a starter , which is 134.2 . Divide that by 24 and you get 5.59 innings per Start . And you were specifically talking about innings per Start . Now to be fair in 2019 Tanaka started 31 games and pitched 3 innings as a reliever . So it would be 179 divided by 31 which would give Tanaka an average of 7.77 innings per start . Still higher than German .
Not according to there statistics since it clearly says German started 24 of the 27 games he pitched in and Tanaka started 31 games of the 32 games he pitched in . So I believe we can assume neither was used as openers or openers are considered relievers and not starting pitchers .
I'll take five and a half innings per start for 24 starts with 18 wins and 4 losses, winning 3/4 of the starts and only losing 1/6 of them or better yet 5 1/2 innings per start for 30 to 32 starts with a 24-5 record. He'll do just fine.
Of course, you can never predict how many innings he can pitch over the course of the full season, so you probably want to consider him as starter for the first half of the season and then as the pitcher after the opener in the second half.
If Sevy ad German are our answers, then we are in big trouble.
The short answer is Sevy hasn't pitched in 3 years. Nobody knows what he will be? Maybe he will be Matt Harvey. Either way, I don't see him contributing much in 2021.
German is another question mark that hasn't pitched in 2 years. He had one very good year for us, but I never really looked at him as a TORP. He just doesn't have the ability to pitch deep enough. And, his 7+ ERA in the Dominican league is given me no reason to trust him. Either way, I don't see him contributing in 2021, unless he's in the BP.
