Phillies lost $2B this year and will not be going after Realmuto. That leaves the Mets, and who else? If the Phillies lost that, gotta wonder what the yanks lost...
Espn is saying the Philles lost 145m https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/...on-report-says
Realmuto is heavily rumored not to want to play in NY, If Philly isn't an option it will be interesting to see where he goes.
I believe what i read was the MLB lost 2b as a league last yr. The Yanks generated 643M gross in 2019 which was higher than any other team in Baseball, so I can't imagine any team lost 2B last yr.
Lets hope it opens up the trade market because we desperately need a good starter and other than Bauer who is very unlikely to come here, Tanaka is likely the best starter left on the market.
I think your going to see alot more trades this yr anyways because of the massive reduction in MILB teams. Our team and farm is a great example, were loaded going up the middle and have way more players than spots for them to get playing time especially SS and CF in the lower levels. Were likely going to be forced to trade a couple good specs just to make sure we can get the reps we need for our elite players. We elimanated 3 teams below A ball that all had very, very promising players at those levels and the kids coming stateside from the DR have to find places to play.
I'm wondering if the players that are likely to not get tendered contracts is going to be as deep as expected. I'm sure you've all seen some of the names out there and some of them are surprising. I think seeing who teams non tender is going to be very telling for how the off season is going to play out. Hopefully the Yanks won't be stupid and take advantage of the market to upgrade where they can. There is absolutely no reason we shouldn't be getting multiple good relievers with as deep and cheap as they are going to be. I also think we could upgrade the bench
The sports industry analysts Team Marketing Report has done the accounting on losses for all 30 teams. Total projected revenue.
TMR annually produces what it calls the Fan Cost Index, a calculation of the average cost for a fan to attend a game for teams across sports. For the 2020 MLB season, TMR produced a data set looking at how much game-day revenue each club missed out on with the absence of fans.
According to their reporting, there was more than $5 billion in lost revenue across the league, per TMR’s calculations. The New York Yankees topped the list, with an estimated $437 million in game-day revenue lost compared to what the Yankees might have drawn with fans attending a traditional 81-game home schedule. The Miami Marlins were on the other end of the scale, at No 30, with $37 million in game-day revenue lost.

I think we are already seeing signs of it's effect on the market. Many teams (particularly small markets) are signaling they intend to dump salary at a brisk pace. Imo Yankees should take advantage of a once in a lifetime buying op.
Yankees lost even more. But I have no sympathy for these very rich organizations. It is comparable to a huge billion dollar investor having bad year on the stock market. You just deal with it.
Thee is talk that Hal wants to try the 2008 pitching formula to help offset the payroll.
How much does Garcia, Schmidt, German make per year as of now?
Well add those 3 and slot them behind Cole and Monty
Hal’s budget saving rotation
1. Cole
2. Monty
3. German
4. Garcia
5. Schmidt
There you go folks. This is how Hal will be able to afford DJ and his $20+ million. Going back to the 2008 of Joba, Kennedy and the future Roger Clemens that never was.
I know he was discovered cheap and Cashman gets applauded for it but with his value at a high and I think the Yankees need to put him in a package with some of the top specs.
Trade Voit! Do it while he is at an all time high with value.
Trade Voit, Florial, Garci and Schmidt and get Lindor.
Then resign DJ And Tanaka and then sign Trevor Bauer and call it a day!
2021 rotation
1. Cole
2. Bauer
3. Tanaka
4. Monty
5. German
With Sevy bullpen bound for 2021 to build back strength and then see what he has in store for 2022 as a starter again.
That is what a REAL YANKEE OWNER DOES!
So Nicky which one is it , 8:26 or 8:32?
