Hair policy? Really? A zillion dollar AAV he should be willing to shave ALL the hair on his entire body! :speechless:

All of that is exactly why I am not convinced that sevy would have made a difference in the alds this season . And why I don’t think he could ever be counted on when it comes to winning a ws . So while I am not sure I agree with calling him trash I can certainly understand why you would feel that way.
Not to be alarmist, but I think many of you are too optimistic about the starting pitching next year. Its a hot mess. Assuming Bauer is not a possibility (because that is the likely scenario for many reasons), can someone please tell me how in gods name we have any shot at a ring next year or even making the playoffs absent an extended playoff scenario. It seems to me that we need way more than 1 starting pitcher in a lean market.
Here's what it is right now:
1. Cole (no issue here. best in AL)
2. Garcia (kid with no experience; never pitched more than 111 innings in a year)
3. Monty (history of TJ; hasn't pitched 50 innings since 2017)
4. German (not even sure he's going to be allowed back; hasn't pitched in 2 years)
5. Sevy (recovering from TJ best case scenario he's available in July 2021; hasn't pitched since 2018)
6. Schmidt (not ready; hasn't pitched 100 innings since 2016)
7. King (looks like his future is bullpen since he can only go through a rotation once)
I think if they get a good deal with Tanaka, he will be back. Paxton won't. His velo was done all season and I doubt the Yankees will take a chance with him. I mean, if the Yankees would consider both Tanaka and Paxton, they would be better just paying a few extra bucks and getting Bauer. Bauer + any of our young arms is better than Tanaka and Paxton.
You want to trade 2 starters, potential all stars, not making very much, for someone, whos going to command maybe 30 million a year, after 2021?
On this team, we have a ton of players, who are literally walking wounds. Stanton, Judge, Hicks, even Gio and Voit. Maybe even Torres. What will we do if all of them go down at the same time? Andujar will be needed on this team.
If they signed Bauer, I could get on board with Sevy as a #5 starter who is given absolutely nothing, is accorded absolutely nothing, and is told to earn his way back from that nothing.
We all know Cashman won’t go that route.
No.........Luis Severino is yet another of Brian’s overhyped, overvalued, and overindulged ‘Cashman’s Kids’ who has been, and will continue to be, relied upon to somehow suddenly defy Newtonian odds-making and carry Paxton‘S, Tanaka’s, and Happ’s water.
Expect Brian to never engage onBauer and slot Severino in as our #2 arm behind Cole because “we like what we have in-house and feel that that chemistry and balance is what’s needed going forward........”
In fairness to the poster’s original point, we should be not averse to moving one of Fraizer or Voit if an opportunity presents itself.
It would allow DJ (assuming we actually possess the requisite intelligence to re-sign him) to take over 1B, return Gleyber to 2B (which seems like his more natural position), slot in a high contact, high production hitter akin to DJ to his natural position at SS and retain a young, cost-controlled and VERY effective piece at his natural position at 3B.
I would seriously consider moving Voit in this scenario. I am further emboldened by the fact that Voit has proven highly inconsistent the past two years despite leading in HR’s in this unconventional season. Coupled with dumping Sanchez and his impending costly payday, it’s not the worst of ideas.
And yes.........I can fully appreciate the issue of advocating for 3 players that might top out team payroll at 95mil in two years plus the inevitable free agencies of Judge and Torres.
Window to win with this young core and Cole’s prime production years is right now and Brian Cashman and his merry band of Dorito sniffing, Monster swilling, overindulged data-mining geek squad spectacularly blew up one of those prime years.
And will be yet again allowed to continue defecating all over this once proud franchise with their ‘vision.’
24 years, 1championship come Opening Day 2021.
