He is far from worthless , he took Gardner’s starting position from him last season. He has a lot of potential and right now would be the best time to trade him if they wanted to .

IMO if we get 80 plus above average innings from both of them that would be a big impact on the rotation. Looking at what they currently have its not hard to imagine Sevy and German being quite a bit better than the current options . I don't find it difficult to imagine that Medina has a bigger impact next yr than German. If he has a bigger impact than Sevy he'll be impressive to watch, so i hope he does have the biggest impact
Funny you mention sauces. I ran into my favorite sauce, Philly Marinara. He seems to think the Yankees are very close on both Machado and Harper. He insists the deal will get done, but the Yanks move slowly. They are being very cautious in the eval. before committing that kinda dough.
I shouldn't mention this, but I don't think he'd mind. Hal has a close personal relationship with the Long Island medium. In fact she is on the payroll as an executive assistant in charge of forecasting. Philly tells me Hal channels George regularly for his opinion and approval. Lately he's been cranky and pissed off frequently. The medium often censors his language. Supposedly George, with Hank nearby, laments not keeping Hank in charge. According to my sauce, he believes "Hank had balls and understood winning is everything". Unlike "my Brooks bros., penny pinching, bean counter" other son! He has "accountants and Ivy League pencil necks" running the operation! According to George you never gonna win with that approach. You need Billy and Lou battling it out in the trenches. He closed by reminding Hal: " Winning is the most important thing in my life, after breathing,".... "Breathing first, winning next."
"A ship that sails on a calm sea gets nowhere" He implored his son to "mix things up", fire someone. The manager ain't the players friend....he's the manager! He's there to kick ***!
Didi does make a lot sense. He's available for only money. He can play in NYC. Sign him short term with options. He's a fan favrite and great guy in the clubhouse. He ain't Lindor....but who is? He also won't cost anywhere near what Lindor will ask or what DJ is rumored to be asking.
Assuming we don't sign La Machine and can't trade for Lindor and we had $20 - $25 million to spread around, I would give Didi one year for $10 million with an option year for another $10 million with a buy-out of $3 million. I'd offer the same deal to Tanaka. I'd also offer Gardy $3 million as a limited role player. They don't have to take it, but that's what I'd offer. I'd also consider giving Paxton $8 million, especially if Tank doesn't sign. Plan A becomes plan B then Plan C, etc.
I think that would be a pretty strong plan with what left on the market.
Didi makes tons of sense for 1yr, adds a solid LH bat to the lineup and would allow us to be back in on the 22 SS market like they are seemingly planning anyways. I think Tank would be a solid addition/ return to the rotation at that price. I would like them to kick the tires on Kluber though. From the most recent reports his velo, spin rates and control are about back to his 18 level performance. He's scheduled to throw for teams in mid Jan, if he looks as good as being reported i think he probably could provided the highest upside of anyone left outside of Bauer.
I agree with u on making an offer to Paxton but i'd want to see him throw a couple more times to make sure the velo is back to 95+ like it was a couple weeks ago when he threw for teams. He is absolutely so dependent, as evident from last yr, on that plus-plus FB velo if he doesn;t have it there is no point in looking into him. There is just something about a LHed pitcher with his kind of talent and stuff thats very tantalizing. I would be much more interested in offering him a lower base, like 5m, and heavily incentivize the deal for IN pitched, K's, performance ect
I've loved Gardy, but with what else could be had for similar money this winter i think its time to move on from Gardy. U could get a younger, defensive first, speedster type like Almora that could really benefit from the change of scenery and likely get the same or better results. Its not so much the bat we need its plus defense at CF and LF we really need from our 4th/5th Ofer. I value the veteran leadership he's provided in the past but IMO we could use a different voice and probably could find a better, younger player. Thats just my opinion. I absolutely can see them doing exactly what your saying with Gardy and it working out fine also
I would pass on Paxton , after his elbow issues last season , I am thinking he might be a prime candidate for TJ surgery in the not too distant future . I would either trade for Castillo or sign kluber . As for Tanaka I would let him go back to Japan , they couldn’t win a ws in the 7 previous seasons with him, why would I believe they would suddenly win one now ?
