And they have won how many of them? I mean that's the criteria you use for the Yankees, why not the Dodgers?

1. Torres's defense at short will improve over time, but I won't argue that there will be improved defense at short with lindor. I assume you want to move torres to second, decreasing defense at that position, and increasing defense at first with DJ, and losing 40 home runs at 1st base by losing voit.
2. One or two lefty bats in a all righty lineup will make no difference.
3. Whether lindor is young or not, does not impact a team looking to win right now.
4. Hicks has a much higher OBP then Lindor
Lindor will take significant resources to sign. Is 30 million dollars a year a good use of resources in order to improve defense at short? I would say, this is very poor judgement if it happens.
Lindor hit 30+ hr in each of the 3 seasons before this one. So you wouldn't lose 40 a year without Voit.
Extra lefty bats do help this much of a right handed lineup.
Lindor helps the team win right now and he's young.
Lindor career OBP is 346. Hicks is 332. hicks had a 379 this year and Lindor a 335 but that's a one season comparison.
Also Lindor's career average is 285 to hicks's 235
As a yankees for 5 years hicks is 240 avg, 346 OBP and 60 hr
Lindor in his last in 6 years, 3510 PA- 285 avg. 346. OBP. 138 HR
Hicks is hurt way more and not as consistent offensively
Lindor has also stolen almost 99 bases and hicks has stolen 55.
I don't understand why you made the Hicks comparison. I don't know why both can't be in the lineup. But Lindor is without question a better leadoff hitter.
The money aspect? If it improves the infield and productivity of the lineup, I don't see it as poor judgement.
Is the money better spent for a TORP? Possibly but a contact hitter who is lefty, plays gold glove caliber SS and can run seems like a significant upgrade and worth the money if it doesn't prevent them from getting a pitcher as well
As far as offense goes all you're doing is adding by subtracting. Lindor doesn't slug as much as Voit, nor does he hit in the clutch, like Voit, or get on base as much as Voit.. Luke Voit is one of the top hitters in the AL since 2018, despite playing through an injury last year, which diminished his stats. Lindor makes more contact and strikes out less, that's it.
I consider Hicks to be the leadoff hitter on this team, despite the fact that Aaron Boone keeps on plugging him in the middle of the order. Hicks's OBP since he's turned it around is .362 from 2017 till now. During that same period, Lindors has been .341. I'm not counting the first 5 years where Hicks forgot how to hit. That's like compiling the stats Urshela had with the indians to say, look, this is the kind of player Gio is, currently.
If there's a choice between getting Scherzer or Verlander, over lindor, I'll take those 2 any day and every day, over some extra defense at short. The one thing they've been missing these last few years has been pitching, during the season and after it. It is not defense at short, or any other position, which has kept them from going further into the post season.
Bauer is reportedly telling teams he wants a Strasburg type, long term deal, so we can pretty much rule him out coming here
Scherzer for s short deal? I agree. Verlander just had TJ surgery and is out till 2022 at high point he will be 39. So hard pass on him over Lindor.
Sadly, if Stanton could be moved, we'd have the best of all worlds.
DJ
Lindor
Voit
Judge
Hicks
Torres
Cashman was incredibly short sighted in his signing of Stanton. Get rid of his contract and you could have Bauer and Lindor.
I just don't know if a team is going to want to commit that many years and dollars to a player who hasn't been very consistent in his career.
Also, during a pandemic where they don't know if fans will be allowed at stadiums or not.

One of the biggest things i see different between us and the Dodgers/Rays is their versatility. The have multiple guys that play multiple positions well and they can hit most anywhere in the order. Other than DJ we don't have that
IMO they have adopted a new more effective way to develop a lineup and were still stuck doing it a less effective way. Power in your lineup is a very effective way to win in the regular season but high contact and versatility are seeming to be just as important in your lineup in the post season
I'm completely overlooking the pitching part but that a different part of the conversation
