Sounds like it is neither Lindor, DJ or Tanaka.
Hal is on a saving spree. He quieted the Yankee fan base down with the Cole signing snd figured it would buy him 3 years to get under the tax threshold to get back some money he lost because of 2020.

Yeah you keep thinking that hal would be spending big this winter if COVID didn’t happen . This is the same hal that didn’t want to trade for verlander 3 years ago because it would have sent their payroll 1 million over the tax threshold. Hal is going to lose even more money when fans stop renewing their season ticket plans of all kinds after the Yankees likely miss the playoffs this season
I'm more sour on lindor than others, I guess.
I like him but he isn't a very good situational hitter. I'd gladly have taken him but I'm also aware
This forum would soon be riddled with the complainers bitxhing he can't hit with RISP

It's funny. I often try to imagine what people I interact with on the internet look like. I have a picture in my head for a few of the people here. I swear, when I see your posts, the picture I get in my head is a guy sitting in a tub with a razor blade against his wrist muttering over and over "I swear to God if they don't get a damn #2 I am going to ****ing end it all." I have an idea for you. Since you don't watch the games, just buy a set of newspapers from 2009. Then each morning, you can read the sports pages and know in the end, the Yankees will win it all.
See, I'm a problem solver.
A .500 team? seriously ? if they go with just what they have now and don't have any massive injuries they are a 90 win team in the AL. If they get DJ and 1 good starter they are in the top 3 in the AL.
With Tampa letting Morton go and trading Snell the level of the best teams in the AL really fell. The CWS are the clear best team in the AL but after that every team has alot of questions.
I hate what Hal and Cashman haven't and aren't doing but lets not act like were going to be a last place team. With the AL getting so much weaker its just more of any excuse for them not to spend yet still be able to say they have a contending caliber team
What is your damned problem ? There are many people here that are angry with the yanks front office right now and showing it . And yet you are singling me out . Here is one suggestion I have for you . Take off the rose colored glasses and the binders and look at the current mlb team that the Yankees have right now and admit the front office screwed up . Even dayners who is usually positive is pissed off and calling the front office for what it is, a bunch of stupid people
I didn’t say the Yankees are a sub .500 team . I said it would be interesting to see if they are a .500 team this year . Because that is the only thing that will be interesting about this team this season . They won’t don’t much else but be a sub .500 or above .500 team.
You are referring to me, and I will stand by this. We should be excited because of this team's potential, esp. with the potential of the kids who are on the way. We have a talented core of young players who wake up each morning, eat breakfast and work all day trying to get better so they can be part of the starting lineup of the most storied team in baseball history. By accident of birth location, or by personal choice, you, and millions like you spend time, money, and frayed nerves hoping this team can win it all. Unlike almost every other team, the hope that "this is our year" is realistic, and the reality almost every other team experiences (i.e. half empty stadiums during non pandemic times, and last place finishes is never our reality). We play meaningful baseball right to the end of the season EVERY season.
And, even if all the foregoing were no longer true, we are talking about baseball. It's a game, and if you are like me and billions of other people, baseball is more than winning championships. It is about summers playing against friends, our fathers who made the time to coach our team and show us how to throw a curveball. It is about the amazing plays we once made that convinced us (foolishly) that we could be good enough to go pro, and for me the watermelon my dad would bring to each game to celebrate our win (or our loss).
I get it. Winning the World Series is exciting and I want to see us get #28 as much as anyone else. I often wish Cashman would do something he didn't. I often wish Cashman didn't do something he did. I really was hoping we could pull off the trade the Mets just did. I admit it, I am jealous. But, we have a truck load of young, eager flamethrowers here and on the way. And one day relatively soon, we may have a Martian patrolling center field. Disagree with what the Yankees do as much as you like. We all do it. That is the point of a discussion forum, but if you are going to complain about everything that doesn't go as you like, and don't enjoy the possibilities of what may be, then I don't know why you bother being a fan. I just don't get it.
I agree. Mets are the better team and its not even close And now its not only starting pitching.
That offense is going to be very productive. Assuming the Mets close on Spinger next (and they are the favorites), they have power, righty/lefty balance and 5 guys that can legitimately hit 300 in that lineup. FYI - they are also talking to the Cubs about Kris Bryant.
And, if they add Hand to that bullpen, I think I might have to side with their bullpen as well because they will be able to match up against our backend.
