Mets, San Diego, Chicago, Philly all have to be in. I bet the Dodgers kick the tires too. Remember, no guaranteed TORPs coming out in 2021 either.

Fair points, the difference for me is Stras was coming of an unbelievably dominate WS MVP. Bauer has been excellent at times in the regular season but lacks the true playoff resume IMO to get the 7yrs245m Stras got last yr, especially in this market. I agree, especially with no guaranteed ace in the 21 class someone may step up and give him that kinda deal but i'll be surprised. I think he would have much better luck meeting or exceed that contract in 21. Take a huge 1yr deal, which lots of teams would probably be in on, then cash in next yr when the FA pitching market is still weak and lots more teams maybe looking to spend big money after slashing payroll for next yr
To me, especially with how Bauer is, he would be more interested in beating Coles 36m AAV, Bauer will never get a bigger total contract but he could always 1up Cole by saying his AAV was higher even if it was a short term deal
It will be interesting to see if the 2 biggest pitching contracts ever will go to college team mates that went 1st and 3rd in the same draft. I'd be very pleased if they were on the same team again
Handing out a 5-7 year deal to a soon to be 28 year old gold glove SS who can hit 30+ hr
Vs
a 10 year deal with a NTC, that will last till he's 37 to a one dimensional hitter, who was really signed to be a DH
Yeah. I think one is far more shortsighted than the other.
If I could choose between those two deals, I would absolutely sign up for Lindor.
What you failed to miss is that I actually agreed with you regarding Scherzer and was commenting that Stanton was the reason they likely wouldn't sing anyone of cost.
What is more short sighted or actually, blind, is suggesting they sign Verlander.
Which is why the Yankees wouldn't sign him. There is no way they sign him for more money be it AAV or full deal and start him behind Cole.
I still don't think Bauer is worth the money he will get.
I would start the conversation with Cleveland about Bieber and see if they had any interest in moving him.
You are likely speechless because you have nothing actually, intelligent to say. It's a theme with you.
I don't know Web. what type of deal might get that done? Maybe a higher AAV for a 5-7 year deal could get him signed.
I assure you you are not laughing as hard as I was when you suggested signing Verlander or Dave Robertson.
You wanted to sign a 39 year old who will miss all of next season recovering from TJ surgery?
Or Robertson., who's pitched 6.2 innings in two years and is still recovering from TJ surgery at age 35 to replace Chapman?
Now that's hysterical.
Suggesting Lindor might take a 5-7 year deal? Maybe a stretch. Maybe not.
Suggesting signing relying on those two pitchers next season? That **** is pricelessly stupid.
What incentive does Lindor have to re-enter free agency when he's 33-35 years old? LOLOL. Have you watched baseball before this season?
Verlander and Robertson, on a one year deal is totally worth it, but i get it, you need something to attack to make your ridiculous narrative, make some sort of sense, even if you're the only one who believes it.
This is exactly the way I was thinking about things. I’m not here to bash or praise Cashman but I defintley think maybe it’s time for a new way of thinking, or just a different voice from the top. With the payroll and expectations this team comes with every year we seem to be stuck at the same position every year. Hell maybe bring in Buck to GM to oversee Boone, just a thought.
a shame corey seager is not a free agent he would be perfect for the yanks a ss with tremendous power and a lefty in yankee stadium...
