BTW Naehring was the inside GM option that Hal like's so much i mentioned to u the other day. I think to keep him they are going to have to make him the GM or at minimum assistant GM. Cashman is the Senior VP so technically they have an opening at GM. I just don't see Hal firing Cashman because of his close relationship with the family. IMO our best chance at getting a different voice making or helping make the decisions is to get an actual GM. Guys like Theo and Friedman have separate GM's so there is no reason we shouldn't have one as well.
Hals not a dumb guy from what i can tell and he can't be completely blind to Cashmans failure to get the right players we need to win. I think he's going to have to make this a make or break yr for both Cash and Boone. Our championship window has been wide open since 17 and we haven't even made a WS. We've wasted enough prime cheap yrs of this core and going forward Coles prime yrs. Failure to make the correct moves this winter to upgrade this team IMO its going to be another wasted yr.
At minimum we need a TORP, 1-2 middle relievers and a contact type LHed or S hitter. Brantley is the perfect guy in my mind. All the guy does is hit/ make contact and he has legit pull power that he could take advantage of short porch in RF. He also loves teaching hitting, maybe he could help the young kids adopt a more contact orientated approach and possibly get him to be the hitting coach down the road. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better hitting teacher in baseball if he wanted to be.
Yanks are internally discussing bring back Didi according to the athletic and rumors coming out of the Yanks camp. The plan would be to put Torres back at 2nd, put DJ at 1st, if they can resign him and use Voit as a piece to acquire a TORP.
IMO Didi on a 1yr deal is an excellent option. It puts Torres back at his better defensive position, DJ take over 1st base full time which should slow his decline as he's getting older and would immensely improve our infield defense. Didi would also give us a solid LHed bat that we know can handle playing in NY. He also shouldn't be that expensive either, i would guess in this market he'll be lucky to get 1yr 8m
If they only signed Didi to a 1yr deal it would give them a chance to go after one of the premier SS available after next season, Lindor, Seager and Correa when they are FA.

The only hope i have is hopefully DJ doesn't want to leave the place where he transformed his career. He just seems like the type that he would pass on a couple M to play where and with who he wants but u never know. He took a discount to come play here the first time, hopefully he'll do it again. If they lose him, especially to a rival, it will have to go down as one of the dumbest decisions they've made in a very, very long times

As long as cashman is working in some capacity for the Yankees whoever the GM is , will answer to him . Cashman made it known when he fired girardi and hired Boone that he wanted complete control

Frazier calling card from the time he was drafted was his bat speed and overall ability to hit. To me Frazier had never gotten an extended opportunities because of injuries, attitude and in 19 his awful defense.

With the way Paxton pitched in the 2nd half i really thought he was going to have a big yr but he got hurt and lost all that velo and spin. I loved watching him pitch when he had it, great stuff just can't stay healthy. Paxton is going to have to take a 1yr prove it type deal somewhere. Unless he really wants to stay here though i just don't see him taking that kinda deal from us. I'd offer him 1yr 5m with a bunch of performance incentives. There could be huge value in that deal if he returns to 2019 form and it would only be a cheap 1yr deal so we wouldn't have much to loose. I don't think a team can have to much good starting pitching and if Paxton could stay healthy he should be very good again, atleast as good or better than Monty
