Before posting from my cell phone was the normal way that I accessed the site, I used to post more like this. But it's nearly impossible (or at least would take hours) to do so from my phone. On my computer, it's far easier to pull up info, reference it, and then post it.

I have no problem for those that want justice when someone is shot/killed and it was not justified, but part of the problem is too many times people want to use the wrong examples.

it's ignorant to try and base this on statistics like this while ignoring context/details of any incident/situation.

yes there are times unfortunately when race was a factor, but there are times when it was not.

there are times when race matters, and there are other times in an encounter with police were race does not matter, so to try and break down who was shot based on race is completely meaningless that lacks context.

what if police are more likely to encounter certain people based on crime, being a suspect in a specific situation, or something deserving of being confronted about. then how people (black/white/other) react in that situation.

True story. My little brother is mixed race. He is known to police. Gets pulled into the police station for an armed robbery. They say they have him on camera. They show him the tape. He points out that it's not him on the tape. After much scuffling they all concur it is not him on the tape. Next night gets picked up again, for a different armed robbery. They lay out the details and question him. He says he has a very solid alibi. They laugh and ask to hear it. "At the time of the robbery, I was in here being questioned for another robbery that I didn't commit".

Moral of the story, he was only a suspect because of the color of his skin.

being black (or white, or other) does not make one a suspect, that is a point.

when someone that happens to be black is a suspect and confronted by police, it doesn't have to have anything to do with being black. a person or suspect in that situation can have an encounter with police, resist or have a physical altercation with police, and end up being shot.. and it will have nothing at all to do with being black. yet according to the statistics that someone recently brought up, it will be another incident where someone black was shot. which is exactly why I said, "these statistics don't mean **** when statistics don't take any context into account."
