The conservative belief, or at least my belief, is racists are racists. You are not going to get racists to change their vernacular, let alone their beliefs. But they are on the fringe of society. As a general public, we need to focus more on a person's intentions when using an offensive word. We need to consider the person's overall demeanor towards individuals of different races. This gets us in positions in which you'll give Biden or whoopie a pass but seek to cancel Rogan or Roseanne.

This is factually not true. There is literally a black man who has personally got many racists to renounce their racism.

I don't think black people in general have as much issue with the word as white people. I don't think anyone, especially black people, wants to be called a ******, especially by white people and that's totally understandable. However, it seems to be mostly white liberals who have an issue with the word in general conversations.

To answer your question more directly... if i was with a group of acquaintances, two white and one black and i mentioned how i just listened to Richard Pryors comedy album "Super******" and it was hilarious. If the black person told me that word offended them, i would apologize, tell him that wasn't my intention and not use the word around him. If the white person said he was offended by the black person wasn't, I'd tell the white person to kick rocks. Black people have the right to be offended by that word. White people do not.

I think many more black people have a problem with white people using the word than you believe, but yes there are those who do not care (context-dependent).

Regarding your scenario, I just wouldn't say the word. I also am very skeptical that you use the word around people before you know whether they are offended by it or not, though it may be interesting to see you put your money where your mouth is regarding whether white people should use the word.

Do you honestly believe there's a difference between calling a black person the "n word" vs calling them a "******"? I personally don't feel like there'd be much difference in how offended they would be and rightfully so.
