There is a pattern, and that pattern is for to people who actually see and experience race as a factor, maybe not the only one, but certainly one.

It shows that I am constantly accessing situations and areas to determine if there’s any potential danger. I lived in Singapore for a few months and the crime rate there is nothing. Anyway, one of the apartments I stayed at was very dark outside of the building. With that in mind, I would walk my gf out while she waited for her Uber. My gf would feel guilty and pleaded because Singapore is so safe. Well the first time I didn’t walk her out, some dude tried to steal her IPad out of her hands. People are stupid...

Again, people are stupid. You weren’t wary of all people, you were wary specifically of middle eastern men because they were on public transportation. That is profiling.

Avoiding very dark places is a prudent safety measure. Being suspicious of middle eastern men on public transportation is not.
