You mean like calling the guy they just shot and killed the n-word?
No wonder you doubt there’s much racism going on if you don’t believe people who run up and shoot a black man then call him the n-word is a racist.

NYPD probing officer's alleged use of white power sign at protest: report
video in link.Quote:
The New York Police Department (NYPD) has launched an internal review in response to a now-viral video of a uniformed officer appearing to make a white power symbol during a protest over the death of George Floyd, the department confirmed to The Hill.
The video, which has been shared widely across social media, shows two officers standing together during a protest in New York on Saturday. One appears to make an “OK” gesture with his hand, making a circle with two fingers and holding the other three up in the video.
Footage of the incident was shared by rapper China Mac, NBC News reported. The rapper shared on Instagram “So there’s a viral clip going around of white officers throwing up the 'White Power' sign. I was taking a picture for my YouTube live thumbnail, and the two officers photobombed it throwing up their signs. What do y’all think about that?”
is this the officer using this white power hand sign with an intent to use as white power?
certainly stupid of this officer to do this whatever his intent was, he should know better by now.
There’s a difference between saying “if he were white, he’d still be a live” and “he was killed because he was black” or “he was killed because of racism.” If he were white, I agree the mcmichaels probably don’t chase him down, therefore the situation would not have occurred and obviously no death. However, if he were white and the exact same situation occurred, he still would have been shot and killed by the mcmichaels.
So while I agree with you that his race definitely played a role, he wasn’t killed for be black. Furthermore, I think any time someone kills a person from a different race, it plays a role in their mind. It has to I would imagine.
In this case, the mcmichaels claimed he fit the description of someone they saw do the same thing a few days before. In that sense, it’s not being black was “suspicious” but that the “suspicious” person was black. I agree though that there is this stereotype about young black males. In my opinion, it probably played a role in their thought process in chasing Abery. But it goes back to our conversation as to why stereotypes exist.
So you don’t believe the guy who ran down a black dude, shot him and killed him, then called him the n-word is a racist but you do think people who want to help black people eliminate systemic racism are racist?
Again, you’re confused why people call you a racist?
Yes!
And that’s exactly how Congress or the president can make a meaningful change. Create a new set of standards and have those reviews and standards enforced by a governing body with their own oversight.
Every president has failed at this. Trump actually has the guts to make a sweeping change like this but not the ability to shed self interest in police support and make it happen.
Bernie was the best chance and now who knows where we end up.

It’s sad that half the battle is making people realize there’s a problem at all.
I don't think most people had doubts the problem existed, but I do think most people didn't realize the depth of it.
Now, part of the problem...
Example- defensive football players are trained constantly to be aggressive, go after the guy with the ball, hit him and hit him hard......then people act surprised when they develop (or already had, hence their choice of sport and position) an aggressive personality, not always able to turn it off.
Police officers are often trained in a similar fashion- be aggressive, take control.....then people act surprised when they develop (or already had, hence why they chose the profession) an aggressive personality, not always able to turn it off.
Not remotely an excuse for bad behavior, but a part of the problem
I would imagine to the friends and family of the murder victim, the motive or factors surrounding that murder are mostly irrelevant. The person is dead regardless. If a black person is killed justifiably in self defense by a white person, I don’t think the family is like “well at least it wasn’t racism.” I’d imagine they are still rightfully heartbroken.
With that in mind, twice as many white people are killed by black people than vice versa. Should white people be twice as outraged that for every Abery there’s two white people?
