If they don't know then it's not them being racist, it's the institution. The war on drugs has a racist foundation, but the DEA agent on the border arresting people bringing in pot isn't a racist if they don't ever think about race.Quote:

Another factor in car accident survivability is just plain mass. The Ford F450 is going to win in most collisions, but it's rate of causing accidents is really high too.

A couple of years ago on a vacation, a friend and I had a cab take us to the closest Walmart to the area we were staying, which ended up being in a black neighborhood. After we got what we needed and were standing outside trying to call a cab to come back and pick us up, an older black man approached us and offered to give us a ride and told us that we “shouldn’t be in this neighborhood.” It wasn’t a threatening comment. He was just genuinely concerned.
I have been in a relationship with a woman for coming up on two years now who was born and raised in East St. Louis. We lived vastly different lives growing up. One of the first things we bonded over was St. Paul sandwiches, which is a regional thing and can really only be found at “rice houses” in the hood. If I mention wanting one, Keia will tell me not to go get one by myself and that she will get it for me. As a black woman who grew up in these neighborhoods, she also will not go to them after dark.
Racial prejudice isn’t just a white to black issue. It’s also a black to white issue, and there are a lot of people who aren’t ready to have that conversation.

Back in the time of the Rodney King beating I ran a store in the Seattle area and had a lot of regular customers who I knew at least by name, many of them black. Virtually every last one of them instantly started acting like ALL whites, including me who they knew, shared some responsibility. Throughout that mall, for weeks I didn't know whether to acknowledge them (which many said 'what you looking at') or try NOT to make eye contact (where some said 'oh now you can't even look at me')....couldn't win
