I just gave you an example of how I allow safety to dictate my actions in regards to people I know. I’m certainly going to apply those same type of actions to strangers. It has nothing to do with racism. If I only treated middle eastern men or black men with caution, I could understand your point, but that’s not me. I’ve just seen too much stuff so I know when I situation is potentially dangerous.
Feelings change based on circumstances. When I’m in an environment where my friends are being killed on a weekly basis, I would give up almost any freedom for it to stop. Those feelings are different than my thoughts on civic issues.
It’s like the question of abortion. Someone can be against abortion all day long but as soon as they are faced with giving birth to an unplanned child, they change their minds.
