As for the corporations, yeah they can. In fact, they've been doing inversions with overseas companies to avoid US taxes and regulations. They aren’t asking for a $1-2 raise in the minimum wage. They are asking for an undefined term in a “livable wage.” That’s the problem. You can’t negotiate with someone who can’t define what their goals are or at least won’t let them be known. You are talking in definable terms ($1-2). But the side asking for the raise aren’t using such terms, not ones that are reasonable.

Ewing already covered it but if you have a problem with what "they" want, go yell at them. I'm asking for $1-2 raise to the minimum wage and you are refusing because of some nefarious "they".

Also, they haven't defined their goals or won't let them be known? What are you talking about? You've been bringing up their $15 an hour goal for awhile now. What they want is very clear: they want $15 an hour minimum wage.

You disagree. And you're using that disagreement to also oppose a $10 minimum wage, and a $9 minimum wage, or any minimum wage increase at all. I suspect it's because your actual goal is to not let the minimum wage be raised at all.

For the purpose of this conversation, I don’t care about raising the minimum wage $1-2. But we are also discussing why reasonable goals are not accomplished. This is an issue with our political system and especially pertains to the issues in this thread.

No one believes black lives don’t matter. To even suggest this is an issue in 2020 is ridiculous. Everyone agrees cops shouldn’t kill civilians, regardless of race. Yet here we are.

As far as minimum wage, the side that you support is not being reasonable in their goals. Asking for absurd amounts or undefinable terms like a living wage is not a starting point. This is a tactic used by politicians. It’s like making abortion illegal. It’s an absurd premise to tell women what they can or can’t do with their bodies. Our goal as a country should be to limit abortions by any means possible. Yet we have two sides arguing over non starters (Woman’s rights vs killing babies) that don’t really pertain to the issue or solve anything. It’s the same with police involved deaths. Our goal as a country should be to limit this as much as possible by any means and reprimand individuals when this occurs, while accepting we can’t control people. Ending racism is a non starter because it’s an unattainable goal. Yet here we are.

More often some of their more digestible ideas get co-opted by the mainstream or they spur some smaller change by brining attention to an issue that had been ignored. Politicians are supporting those protestors though and they are using undefined terms instead of solid amounts because they know $15 is not achievable and will kill small businesses. They won’t define the term “livable wage” because they know there’s no amount lower than $15 which would satisfy those protestors. $1-2 appears to be a slap in their face and would be a loss for those politicians.
