I'm much less hopeful that anything productive comes out of this. I think we're significantly worse off than we were last week. We're trying to change the idea that too many people have that all black people are dangerous, violent criminals who should be treated as less than human. People who feel that way won't have any empathy for why this is happening. The destruction of these riots is only going to confirm in their minds that they're right to think that of black people.

I'm not conflating the ideas of prejudism and racism, I'm pointing out that being prejudice towards a person's skin color IS racism. I agree there is nothing racist about pointing out bad elements of the black community, but when you do it in a manner to oppose equality then you start toeing that line.

The riots were probably inevitable. They were bound to happen. Something has to change and Kaepernick's knee proved to this country that peaceful protest is NOT going to bring about any change.

You do understand people are being Hurt, people are being killed during these riots, yes? Buildings can be rebuilt, but the lives damaged by that loss of property are sometimes some of the very people the protests are intended to benefit...ppl losing businesses, losing jobs after already suffering thru months of covid concerns.

So no, I'm not 'more concerned about buildings'

No we're trying to fix how we police this country. The problem is on their end. The cops. The government. The people with power over the oppressed. It's not black peoples' burden to make racists not racist.

It's definitely a human reaction. You can't ignore context and pretend this just came out of the blue. It's gotta be handled though. We can't just let buildings burn and people get attacked.

Go back and reread my posts. I’ve said several times that what needs to change is the killing by young black males.

I used this example. If someone hits you in the head every day and one day you call them a bully and they tell you to stop calling them a bully while they continue to hit you in the head daily, what should happen? I would imagine both behaviors should change. It’s the same with young black, inner city males. While yes, white people should not continue to think of young black males as thugs/criminals, the young black males who are thugs/criminals need to stop acting as such.

So they threw tear gas at peaceful protesters near the White House, ducking g tough guys.
