If we had a comprehensive universal support system, and got rid of the regressive parts of our system while also selecting people for things like jobs, scholarships, admissions, etc through an anonomizer then over a long time the unequal results by race would go away.
Take the war on drugs. It was started to combat people who didn't like the government which included black people ... black people were specifically one of the groups being targeted. But the war on drugs has been doubled, tripled, quadrupled, and quintupled down on over the years, one of the BIGGEST proponents of it being one Joe Biden. And the war on drugs has done horrific things to black communities in cities, MUCH worse than to other groups ... so if the war on drugs is ideologically racist then so is Joe Biden right?
I think the war on drugs is stupid and it's just taking a bad situation and making it worse to sell politicians to the people who are "trying to make the streets safe for our kids" or whatever the BS they spew is.

But you know what else they said? Biden said during his campaign about his crime bill “I haven’t always been right. I know we haven’t always gotten things right, but I’ve always tried.” And Hillary said “Looking back, I shouldn’t have used those words, and I wouldn’t use them today." And Bill Clinton who signed that crime bill said that he “signed a bill that made the problem worse, and I want to admit it.”
So, did good people in good conscience pass non-racist laws that they thought were going to help and just get it wrong? Or were they racists looking to destroy black people?
I don't think the system is ideologically racist, but we damn well have a broken system.
No more drug war.
No more locking up non-violent criminals.
No more prisons that don't focus on rehabilitation and civil and safe treatment of prisoners.
Help addicts get better rather than punishing them.
Universal health care, child care, and education through junior college/trade school.
Get rid of regressive taxes, and start with the gas tax and road tolls and bridge tolls. Poor people who drive have to go further, and tax money built the roads, they should not be faster for people with more money.
Don't allow big companies to buy up housing to drive the prices up.
Streamline the process to build more housing, and make it WAY cheaper.
Have more small police stations, get rid of the big central stations. Make sure that the police live in the neighborhood they work in. They should know the people they are there to protect and server and the people should know them. And stop protecting them when they are **** people.
Of course none of that is likely to happen as long as the current group of politicians are in charge (yes on both sides). And they are not going to change quickly unless we get money out of politics ... unfortunately the only way I can see that happening is with an amendment to the constitution, and that is virtually impossible.
On amendments, the last one to pass took 202 years to pass, and that was 30 years ago, and IT was just about Congress being allowed to vote for more money for themselves. I imagine that probably had 90%+ support by the public and it took 200 years. The one before that was 50 years ago and it was to allow 18 year olds to vote.
I think we are ALL fundamentally screwed.

Researchers sent thousands of resumes, some with white sounding names and some with black sounding names. Predictable results: the black sounding names got fewer callbacks and interviews. Some companies were far more discriminatory than others.
This is one of many studies that submit identical resumes with white/black sounding names. They all come back showing a negative bias against black sounding names.
To those that say systemic or societal racism doesn’t exist. Yes it does.
This is actually not the first study to show this sort of thing. There was another a few years back that showed that a white applicant with a criminal record was still more likely to get a callback than a black applicant with a clean record and a college education. Earlier, in 2017, comedian Sarah Silverman had a mini panic attack after she saw what she believed was a swastika spray-painted on the sidewalk. As it turns out, it was just construction markings designating the location of underground pipes and wires. The markings didn’t even look like a swastika!
It never occurred to these people that the things they saw were actually innocent. It never occurred to them there may be a perfectly reasonable explanation. Rather, their first instinct was to allege wrongdoing by a shadowy cabal of racist vandals, who apparently roam the county either quietly or loudly proclaiming their racist allegiance.
