Re: Peaceful protests…are they still peaceful if they refuse to move when the police ask them to move???? If they blocked the street to your house and refused to move and you couldn't get home…are you OK with that???? If they are out after curfew, is that OK?? Is that still peaceful??? If a business cannot open becausr of protestors…is that OK???

Some of you act as if the police just walk out and start shooting people.

Seems like more police have been hurt than "peaceful" protestors.

No…here's what you don't seem to get.

When news reports say "tear gas" it sounds so much worse than "smoke." Pepper bullets (whatever they are…we can assume it somehow becomes pepper spray) is also far less damaging than tear gas.

"Tear gas"" is beiong reported to make it sound worse than it is.

My guess is the police were ordered to clear people out and they did so in an overly aggressive manner that most Americans who aren't focused on defending every action from certain people/groups would obviously condemn. They likely told people they had to move without reason and then instigated the crowd using force. My guess is then someone went over the top and threw something like a bottle at them for doing so and they used it as an excuse to attack the entire crowd in the manner they did. This would fit plenty video's out there showing cops acting in this manner all throughout when they want people to do something (even if they are just peacefully protesting legally).

Just like they shouldn't be killing people. Shooting rubber at innocent protesters or gassing them in other places. Shooting rubber bullets/spraying from their cars driving by protesters. Bumping into barriers/crowds with vehicles. Knocking an old man to the ground breaking his head open. Attack nurses tents or those helping others that have been hurt on ground. I can go on and on and on because that is how disgustingly violent our leadership/law enforcement is trying to control the population and there are tons and tons of issues that have been exposed in just the last couple weeks.

Bolded…is this really an "excuse." If what you say is true (good chance that it is) then the police are reacting to an attack. Not sure how you can fault them for that. And once something is thrown, what is the alternative for the police.
Do nothing……something else would be thrown.

Have a few police enter the crowd and try to arrest the thrower (if he/she was known) … the police would have the crap beat out of them.

Or enforce the law…which is what they did.

And forgetting about all of the whys and wherefores, all the machinations…wouldn't it have been easier for the crowd to simply just move??? What was the big deal????

Yes, 100% it is. Unless you are saying one bad apple spoils the bunch. In that case then you just described why all police must go, too many rotten apples. Now I don't agree with the idea one bad apple spoils the bunch in group form like the saying goes so I think we should work with the idea we will need some sort of police/enforcement and try fixing the problem together as a whole but I just wanna point out if you think one person doing something bad means attacking the whole in this manner just apply it to other areas as well (police, justice system, our leaders and so on). If you think this is acceptable to innocent civilians like the above let's apply it to other groups that have much more authority as well.

Why and how is the crowd supposed to know to move all at once and for what reasoning was it all explained why their rights were being infringed from peacefully protesting in public? Do you know how this was handled step by step even or what chances they had or what they knew and so on? Police have been overstepping for a long long time in this country and we have no idea how this actually played out (well besides the video and testimony since which isn't good) you are just asking question after question trying to excuse this gross behavior anyway you can.

One thing those video phones have proven is that Blacks were not just whining, complaining about nothing, or were just supporting their local criminals when they complain about the policing in their community. Even with the video proof, there are people who still demonizing the victims like Candace Owens is doing right now. The story becomes the character of the victim instead of the crime committed against them by the cops. As if that justifies the cops' actions. I keep remembering the old Richard Pryor joke where after a couple of cops had accidentally broken a N... throat they consult their cop's handbook to see if they broke a department rule and found it was ok to break a N throat. That was from the late sixties. Police brutality in the black community was the reason that the Black Panthers were formed and had widespread support in the black neighborhood. I supported them by buying their papers. No one in white Americans could believe back then that the police would do the things that the black community was complaining about.

The videophone may become the government watchdog more so than the press. No spin, just the fact. It comes as no surprise that the police department wants a ban on people video tapping them.

Damn, right they feel entitled to conduct themselves any way they want. They have been allowed to do whatever they want and how they want for so long that it has become their birthright. Not only did they brutalize peaceful protesters of police brutality they attack the press that was filming them brutalizing the protesters. Let that sink in for a moment. Government enforcement agencies brutalize the press. That is the sort of crap you hear about coming out of the third world dictatorships. The absence of politicians condemning this says a lot about our system and where their heads are at.

LOL dude you are talking to someone who has done a lot of peaceful protests. We march and shouted our slogans, traffic was diverted, the cops watch, and when it was over we all went home without an incident. The right to protest a government or policing policy is more important than you not being able to get home on time. Let me cry a freaking river for your momentary inconveniences. You truly don't understand the dynamics of our right to protest or have a double standard about it.
