To be clear: are you saying subconscious bias doesn't exist, or just doesn't exist in regards to racism?

First of all, I never said they were Muslim. They certainly appeared to be middle eastern but I have no idea if they were Muslim. The thought didn’t even cross my mind. The actor James Woods tells a story about being on a flight the month before 9/11. During the flight he became suspicious of 4 middle eastern men and felt as though they were going to hijack the plane. He made the crew aware of his suspicion. The day after 9/11, he identified 3 of these men who became to be known as individuals involved with 9/11. Since this was prior to 9/11, his suspicion could not have been the predicated on some subconscious bias. My point is, typically we pass off these thoughts as subconscious bias and we don’t realize the amount of conscious thought that goes into these types of suspicions.
Naturally, you are going to minimize my thoughts and comparison to white hooded men. This is what is wrong with our society. This is why whenever there is some mass shooting, neighbors are shocked the shooter could do this.
To be very clear (again)……
I believe that there are racist white people and I believe there are racist black people.
I believe that there exists a large amount of black people that see racism when racism does not exist at all. They see it literally everywhere. They see racism in all of life's problems and annoyances. The cry of racism becomes an excuse for failure or some shortcoming.
e.g I didn't get the job because I'm black and not because someone was more qualified. I didn't get the loan because I'm black not because of poor credit. etc. I get seated before a black couple…automatically assumed it must be racism when there are other reasons.
I believe blacks could do a much better job on their image so as to encourage better acceptance which may lead to less "subconscious bias" …e.g. look at that video in front of the hospital where the two LA cops were being treated. Screams of "I hope they die." The entire video was fill of eff word expletives. Who wants to hang around people like that???
Yes it did play a major role in your thinking because if they weren't middle eastern none of the other things would have stood out to you.
This is a perfect example of a person's subconscious behavior driving their conscious behavior. You were able to subconsciously convince yourself that you made conscious judgements based on characteristics other than the true reasoning for your thinking.
I see white people in hoodies all the time, it never makes me think of kkk. If you mean white hoods like actual kkk hoods the yes I would see them as a threat because they are announcing that they are kkk with their hood. What the hell of an example is that?

My bad, Middle Eastern instead of Muslim. Same thing applies. You viewed them suspiciously because of their Middle Eastern appearance in a way that you would not have done for white people. Why is that? Because one time James Woods suspected Middle Eastern men of being nefarious and was right?
And it's not minimizing white hooded men, but it is pointing out the ridiculousness of the comparison. Being suspicious of people in white hoods is a far more normal reaction than being suspicious of people for being middle eastern on a plane. This is more of your bigotry showing. Simply being middle eastern or being black is enough cause to view them as potential threats in the same way it takes a white person wearing a white hood.
And the shocked neighbor shooter comparison is you being a disingenuous. People are shocked a white kid could be a shooter. Now point out all the white kids who have been mass shooters who walked around the street in white hoods? I guarantee nobody would be surprised if the kid who walked around in a white hood goes on to become a mass killer.
All you have are extreme reaches to justify your bigotry.
Perhaps my example of a kkk member was far fetched in the comparison. But what if it was 4 hillbillies in a pickup truck with a confederate flag sticker? That’s much more in line with my thoughts.
It was not that they were middle eastern men on public transportation that alerted me. It was their behavior and the several coincidences that followed that gave me the suspicion. Again, pushing these suspicions to the side instead of calmly recognizing them is why our society faces so many mass shootings in 2020 compared to 1920. Not wanting to recognize “odd” or “weird” behavior as odd and weird in order to spare their feelings is how these, often white men, go undetected for years prior to committing mass shootings.
It was them being middle eastern that made you suspicious. You are giving us a perfect example of subconscious thought driving conscious behavior.
Were there any non middle eastern men you took note of who were wearing backpacks and sitting alone? Did any white people acting odd make you give your daughter a heads up?
It should be pretty obvious joey, I dont get your angle here..

"Some were Yelling"?????????
]Have you watched these videos re: BLM
"Pigs ina Blanket, Fryem Like Bacon"
You think that one thug in LA was a one of????
What Do We Want? Dead Cops, When Do We Want Em? Now"
Do you think I, or anyone for that matter, would form an opinion based on one fool on a cell phone.
Portland, Seattle, Kenosha, Minneapolis, NYC, Rochester, lancaster
Did you see……the old lady and her husband being beaten with a wood plank in Syracuse (few months ago); blocking traffic in dozens of cities (last weekend they blocked the GW bridge in NYC to remind us about George Floyd …… something that happened 4 months ago. Did they thing everyone forgot about Floyd??? Spray Painting, fires, window breaking, foul language
Serious question……what do you think and what do you expect society [not jus white society] to think when they see all this???? What do you expect people to think???
Do you have an answer???
I expect people to think that those people yelling those things or doing those things are wrong and the behavior is reprehensible.
What I don't expect people to think is because those particular black people yell those things or do those things that all black people are bad.
If you want to convince people you're not a racist, stop saying that it's justifiable to think less of all black people because of a few. That is very clearly racist.
