Table 1 on the first link is really helpful. It looks like no one in any age group died in the week ending 8/8. Wow. And I counted over 5,000 on the John Hopkins site.

You are using a very specific number but you can't do that with an age of +75.

Again I'm not disputing that old people aren't the ones more likely to die. I am saying your specific number of 78 is made up.

5.5 million is 1.67%.

170,000 is 0.05%.

By extension, 0.28% of the world has gotten this, and 0.009% of the world has died from this.

If the US % applied to the world, 3.9 million people would die, or roughly all of Los Angeles.

You have to multiply a ratio by 100. Or if 331 million of 331 million people had the disease it would be 1%. See how different that is than 100%.

We have someone who is making conclusions by looking at the data and lacks an understanding of % is. So yeah.

I get all of that. Math and I have been friends for a long time. I missed that he was adding % after his numbers. Yes, he is wrong.

1% is not a small number for epidemiological purposes.

Hopefully he's wrong and a lot more people have had it than that it just wasn't detected. And hopefully even asymptomatic infection provides a reasonable immunity to this, cause then it will all be over sooner rather than later.

For ****s sake dude, it does get misreported. My elderly neighbor was taken to the hospital in the early stages of covid and was misdiagnosed as having covid. She actually had bacterial pneumonia. To this day they have her classified as a surviving covid patient. Though I tend to believe that the contraction percentages are actually higher than what people think due to those that are asymptomatic.
