Again, I was wrong downplaying it. But I will also point out that I said that on FEBRUARY 20th. Before the CDC told the public to prepare for an outbreak. A month before most people went into quarantine. Weeks before it was declared a pandemic. When there were maybe a dozen cases in the US

I read recently that some public health experts think that up to 20 million Americans may have been infected so far, eight times the number that have been confirmed (2.5 million).
Even if that is the case, it still represents only 6% of the total population. 70% is generally accepted as reaching “herd immunity”.
What’s more troubling is the real possibility that antibodies developed by infected individuals during the illness will only be viable for a short period of time, opening the potential that people can get reinfected. This may well be the case for a vaccine as well; it’s effectiveness may only be temporary.
There are still a lot of unknowns.
