There is a junior high that I can reach through the woods behind my house. I jogged over there the other day to see if I could use the track and admit I was a little disappointed when I found it locked. Still I find these protests a little confounding.
People protesting bc they cant feed themselves and their families without jobs is something I can understand.
Protesting for your constitutional right to use the skate park etc during a pandemic is stupider. I’m not sure what is going on. It could be the messaging of the media but it presented as a civil liberties issue most of the time

I think at this point, instead of sand (which is going to cost a whole lot more to pull up than to put down) you make a couple arrests and fines and then see what happens. I hate to do that, but these orders don't have any teeth to them, so people will continue to do what they want.
I don’t think it is really a valid point unless they had a lot people using the tennis courts. It seems like this was a reaction to people actually using the Park. I think people get very carried away to the idea of equal treatment sometimes. Just bc they took this action with one part of the Park doesn’t mean they have to somewhere else. just bc they have tennis doesn’t mean they “have to” have cricket or some other sport when they are open. Same idea.
I also don’t see some massive expenditure here. Apparently they considered more security and decided on this instead. Personally I have no issue with paying a couple construction guys for the day instead of ticketing kids.
The one thing I will say is that kids who want to skate are going skate somewhere so Im not sure if it really accomplishes it’s goal. Maybe skaters skate and the kids just hanging stay home more.
