Vaccinating teachers should be the first step toward opening schools.
Public schools have been underfunded for generations and they need to have their funding increased for basic supplies. Many teachers, in order to be sure their rooms are cleaned properly, do the cleaning once a week themselves using supplies that they purchase with their own funds. If states are serious about reopening schools completely, they must take sanitation in schools more seriously. They must increase the cleaning staff and supply them with their needs. It is more than sweeping and mopping floors now. Surfaces must be cleaned daily, at the very least. Kids must be instructed to wash their hands regularly.
