And the two incidents aren't viewed the same by the general (voting) public. Someone getting in a car accident is sad but most people just shrug and move on. Seatbelts are determined necessary. 9/11 happens and most are scared/angry so we get the wars and such. Covid happens and most are scared/concerned and the country is shut down for over a year and we get mandates. The more anxiety and fear an incident causes the more power the government seizes.
Personally, im opposed to all of it. While i believe it's the role of the government to maintain our safety, it shouldn't be at the expense of our rights or personal freedoms. Look at it this way. The government could ensure our safety from terrorism by spying on every citizen without limits. Should they do that though? Absolutely not.
I know you're all or nothing approach; it's flawed. I don't think people should be allowed to yell fire in crowded theaters in the name of free speech. There are limits to everything. We should err on the side of freedom but understand sensible and limited precautions are necessary.
What makes me laugh is how much of a kiss *** he is. Didn't Trump say something similar at one of his rallies and get booed? You "ought to think". How many ways can you preface or cushion something in a way to play to your constituency. How about having your testicles drop Lindsay and being more assertive? He might as well have said nothing.
I got flagged once because something went off in my carry on a few years back. No idea what it could’ve been. The guy asked if we had anything and reached in the bag to search it. Had no idea. He finally let me go. When I got to the hotel that night I opened my toiletries bag to get out my toothbrush and found a gold fish hook that I have on a band’s hat that I had put in there from the last time I traveled and had put it in my checked luggage. I was in a plane with a sharp fish hook and TSA allowed it.
It's funny how people make a big deal about being upset about vaccine mandates and how they do nothing more than provide the feeling of security meanwhile we have a real government agency that does nothing except provide the feeling of security and they will go to the mat to defend that one.
My approach is consistency, regardless of party affiliation, especially when said party is attempting to garner power and or control over our personal freedoms in the name of safety and security. I believe government causes more problems than they solve and when left to the "people" issues can be solved.
No one has brought up party affiliation as a reasoning for anything so it seems your approach is heavily dependent on party partisan politics.
Well if that’s your belief then the current situation directly contradicts it no? The issue is getting everyone vaccinated. Leaving it to the people will not solve it.
So what do you believe the people should do to get everyone vaccinated?
