It’s not about the numbers you guys want to share.
It’s about the numbers HE wants to share. He has the best numbers.
If someone believes something to be true and then change their belief when they receive new facts they are not a hypocrite. That makes them rational. It’s when you say that a politician with the the most in depth intel at his fingertips shouldn’t be judged on their statements from late March but some NY Times employees should be that you become a hypocrite. See the difference?
I'm not anti-regulation full stop. I'm against the poor enforcement of poorly written or poorly thought out regulations.
As an example, bottlenecking regulations are pretty much always terrible and sponsored by businesses trying to protect their business and have nothing to do with protecting the populace. I've run head on into a bunch of regulations that make it hard or impossible to help people, and the regulations are sold as protecting people.
The help from the government often comes in the form of permission to do things in ways that are not otherwise permitted. Just like Doctors couldn't help in many cases because most states don't allow doctors to practice in their non-home states. It took the government explicitly allowing that for doctors to be able to help.
My distrust of regulation for regulation probably began when I got picked up for putting money in expired parking meters when I was a teen. To my mind the city was getting their rent for the parking spot that they wanted, but the judge said I was stealing from the city the amount of the parking ticket and the towing company from their towing fee. I also found out in that same day in court that the city required the towing company to charge a $98 fee on top of the regular towing rate, but that the city didn't get any of that fee money. Corruption is everywhere it seems.
That said, I am absolutely for rules to live by, both for individuals and companies ... I just think there are more bad ones than good.
"an unarmed black person can be shot for not following orders" ... and that isn't going to be challenged in court? And it's never going to lose in court?
An illegal order is not a law. I just don't know if it's a legal order. I do know the vast majority of people are following it (on both sides) while a relatively small number of idiots are not (on both sides).
To be clear, in 2009 we had a virus crisis. We exhausted our emergency supplies. We did not replenish them. The US manufacturers told the government we needed to build more local manufacturing infrastructure for next time. It didn't happen. That exact infrastructure would have made a huge difference today. Those missing supplies would have made a huge difference today.
