The key to your study here, Nate, is that it consists of patients with type 2 diabetes. They can still make their own insulin. Some don't make enough insulin, others don't utilize the insulin they produce properly.
Type 1 diabetics require supplemental insulin to survive. Their bodies do not make insulin at all or not enough for them to live.

Nate, I will explain one more time, just for your edification. Your study consisted completely of type 2 diabetics, some of whom require supplemental insulin, others do not. For some, insulin is an option, which they decline in some cases.
