COVID-19 Response: An issue that shouldn't be at all political....yet here we are

so, I've been in Honolulu near a month now- tested preflight by requirement and post flight after masking around family a few days by request....and while we don't frequent the places tourists do, I have yet to see one maskhole. Even on remote hikes, when you meet ppl they're either masked or have one ready to put on as paths cross....they get uncomfortable if there's more than 100 positive tests in a day and while the holidays increased it, 7 day averages have been around 125.....this is how every state should have been all along

I still don't understand why the AstraZeneca vaccine hasn't been approved for emergency use here in the states while it has been approved in the UK and elsewhere. The idea should be to inoculate as many people as possible to start building some needed immunity to this thing. Its bad enough how slow we've been in administration.

Good news is Johnson and Johnson got positive results in studies for a 1 shot vaccine. Hopefully that will be the next vaccine used in this fight if proven safe.

originally scheduled the 29th of Dec...got furloughed so changed to 1/3, then brother said another week and I said OK, then another week and I said OK...scheduled to redeye Saturday, but they're trying to persuade yet another week...never been away from home this long since like college, feels like time, but likely decide tonight. However, he has a 4 day weekend and 2 telework days tomorrow thru Wed so....it'd be tough having to hit the beach a few more times with 80 degree temps every day

took a couple hikes old farts maybe shouldn't ...on one saw Diamond Head from a high angle most never see, on another saw breaching humpbacks....in SD I'd be seeing frozen tundra

oh BTW, Chinese sister in law gave me new way to enjoy radishes...basically pickled...and new way to enjoy some veggies...in oyster sauce

The answer to another week in Hawaii has to be an easy yes. I mean, if you got no where to be, that's the place to do it.

I got my vaccination yesterday -- Pfizer. We get the follow-up dose on February 4th.
I didn't sleep well last night and had a slight headache today. I suffer from insomnia, so not sleeping well is not new. The headache was different than any other headache I've had recently.

I've tried lots of things. Its something I inherited from my mother. She seldom slept more than 4 hours at night. Her father had similar problems.

is it trouble getting to sleep, or staying asleep? I have severe apnea...it was a life changer to start using a cpap...among other things, my blood pressure normalized after the very first night! but, I had used melatonin with some success too.....some say things like sleep is overrated and I'll sleep when I die, but nobody is at peak performance while not getting solid sleep

Not often. I do take naps on days off, though.
Last night, the day after my vaccination, I felt like crap. Today, I feel pretty good. I slept well last night.
