Surely, they must gain nothing at all from it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Amazon winds up extending the raise. They work you hard and they lost employees bc of the virus. The ones who didn’t “need” the job left bc of the virus, they are facing some pressure from organized labor, and they are making a bundle bc store are closed and people are trying to avoid going out if they can.

Personally, I'd rather go directly to the source. I dont really need commentary by a twitter poster added to the link. Imo, if you are going to post from twitter it should contain a link. If you are going to use twitter as a middle man to post a link, why not link to the source directly? It's why I think twitter is a terrible source. It's good for kicking and screaming and the occasional joke and not much more.
This was your post………
Several of the country’s biggest employers have raised the wages of their essential workers through so-called hero pay some extra money on top of normal hourly salaries.
Now they plan to end those programs. For example, Amazon warehouse workers will lose their extra $2 an hour at the end of this month. Meanwhile, an Amazon warehouse in Hazle Township, Pa. had the company’s worst virus outbreak, apparently after “missing early opportunities to protect workers.”
So you just threw this out there just for the hell of it. Just to be a nice guy and keep us all informed. It was never your intent to stir the pot with something negative about Amazon and other employers. You're just keeping us all informed, the nice guy that you are.
You're very good at this…bringing something up but keeping your distance from it so you can't be connected to it. No way anyone could drag you into anything. You're like one of those people that go to a protest but doesn't really take sides. And when asked by one side, you can say you were there making you look supportive but if asked by the other side you can say that you were just curious as to what was going on. Never commit yourself.
This is what Trump needs to learn. BO was great at it…almost an art form. Clinton had it too. Why don't you give Trump a call and offer your expert advice. You might be able to get paid and you would still be able to make it appear that you dislike Trump. You have that skill.
That’s fine but the post shouldn’t just be a bunch of quotes. Tell us what you think and then just put the sources at the bottom. Posts the way you want to make them are not great to read and they get worse when they get multiplied through responses. Just tell us what you think and we’ll go read the source material.
To put it in perspective, Amazon made net profits of $11 billion in 2019. They employ 800,000 workers. Giving them an extra $2 an hour for a 40 hour work week would cost them $64 million more a year.
So it’s not like they’re not paying them that otherwise their business will suffer. They’re doing it because they’d rather make $11 billion instead of $10.7 billion a year. Hell, Jeff Bezos could pay the extra salary every year for the next 2,500 years with his net worth.
And yes, I’m aware it’s legal for them to do this. I understand a businesses primary job is to make money. Still, you’re basically arguing why businesses don’t give a **** about you like it’s a good thing. Keep that in mind the next time you want to give a business money because it helps Americans.
I wasn't aware that their business was doing so well. Good for them.
I also think they were generous in giving their people a $2 an hour raise. Do you disagree with the fact that that was generous??
When they cut the salary back to its original level, the poster who brought this up implied (did not say specifically) that this was a negative thing that Amazon was doing. I was responding to that implication.
