If one state mandates masks and one doesn't, we already know we can expect significant differences in numbers. In January china went way beyond wearing masks, they made a mask mandate look like child's play. They LOCKED DOWN. Not reduced capacities and shorter hours, they locked. The ****. Down.

Look at their spread pattern from before they started their lockdown. It's exactly on par with ours and the rest of the world. After their lockdown, well of course their graph should look significantly lower than ours.

Have.you guys seen any videos of what they were doing there? If you watch videos of what they were doing in Wuhan, it makes sense their numbers are significantly lower.

It's not that their rates should have looked similar to ours, it's that it should have looked similar to anyone's. Many countries in Europe locked down, none approached even close to the "containment" China claimed to have.

I actually haven't seen an explanation for why some areas where the rules have not changed have had big spikes in infections while in other areas where the rules have loosened the infections have gone down or up. I've seen lots of speculation but have not been able to find much in the form of scientific study results. One thing I wondered about was were there increases in people traveling from area to area? Was the issue a new strain of the virus that was more virulent? Is it that regardless of the rules/regulations people are just getting more careless as individuals? That is the explanation by Sweden for why their lack of government mandated Covid precautions stopped working, people became complacent and stopped doing voluntary control measures.

But studies have consistently shown lockdowns were effective in saving lives and slowing transmission. But I agree, that’s only if those lockdown measures are adhered to, which is why I’ve said another lockdown is pointless if half the country is going to ignore it.

But a lockdown not working in that instance isn’t proof they are ineffective, it’s proof too many people in the US are idiots. So it’s not so much that the experts don’t really know what they’re doing, it’s that everybody else doesn’t.

Brother, Italy locked down AFTER their outbreak started.

China used their damn brain and locked down BEFORE their outbreak started..these are significantly different situations. (Again, humans know about epidemics, these things are all predictable. We have volumes of books in every major university in America outlining manners in which to respond to a epidemic and predict its pattern. China did a better job at this as the Guinea pig than we did with multiple examples already have taken place in front of us (Wuhan, Iran, Italy)).

NYC locked down BEFORE their outbreak started as well. Had they locked down after they would've been looking at maybe 6k dead per day, not 2k.
