I’m aware of how the world works. You are confusing understanding with approval.

A car salesman is advocating for me to buy something at the expense of my money. If he fleeces me, I am the only one negatively affected.

A lobbyist is advocating for the US to change their laws to make their interest group benefit. When they fleece the government, the entire country is negatively affected.

You're assuming the government is being fleeced. That's not necessarily the case.

With few exceptions, most in gov't (state or federal) believe they are doing what is best for their constituents…just like a lobbyist believes he/she is doing best for his industry.

Does Trump do what's best for Americans or New Yorkers???

She was elected. People expect her to put things they want into bills. Lobbyist work solely for the benefits of private interests. They may share the interests and think that what they are advocating is in the greater public good, but they arent elected and are being paid to take the position they do.

What... They are not paid consultants... they are people hired to manipulate policy. You don't hire someone to be a lobbyist because they know something, you pay them because they know someone.

To Sluggo: I'm not anti-lobbyist actually. I'm just against them getting to run things as well as try to influence them. I am strongly in favor of removing the finacial part of the game, but people who know what the industry wants should be allowed to say so... Just not with money.
