Of course I realize that. According to studies like the Brookings Institute quoted, Blacks are vaccinated at a far lower percentage than other minorities and whites are.
I can certainly understand their hesitancy, given the historical abuse they have suffered at the hands of the government (Tuskegee Airmen).
He has formulated an effective message. He's begging people to get vaccinated everyday. The CDC is making people aware of the risks of not being vaccinated. He's putting in vaccine mandates to the point where its hurting him in the polls. This is on groups of people who refuse to get vaccinated irrespective of the message.Quote:

There are plenty of articles that suggest distrust amongst Black people in the medical community and among government. I can't speak to why but there are reasons mentioned in those publications.
All I am saying is that people were quick to blame Trump for not having an effective message against Covid (as they should have), while giving Biden a pass on his response.
The Tuskegee Airmen incident was one reason that blacks do not trust the government to vaccinate them. They have a good reason to distrust our government.Quote:

You're misquoting Harris again. She said she wouldn't take the vaccine if Trump told them to. She would wait on the expertise of the medical community. Something you preach regularly. Given Trump's history with offering advice in regards to treatment of COVID, yeah I wouldn't take the vaccine either unless I knew it was medically safe. Not on Trump's word.
I realize that Harris and Biden didn't say they wouldn't take it, but when Harris said, outright, that she wouldn't take a vaccine on Trump's recommendation, lots of blacks heard "don't take it" as her message. Biden said something similar. That is on him. He screwed up badly with that statement.
I still tell people to listen to their personal physician, as opposed to a politician or a media representative for their medical advice. Several people I know have been told, by their physicians, not to take vaccines and to continue wearing masks when they are out in public. I understand that and can respect that. They have underlying conditions that make vaccines dangerous to them.
These people are exceedingly rare and I encourage everyone that can be vaccinated to get vaccinated.
I don't necessarily believe that is true and there is enough evidence now to show that the vaccine is safe and effective. Not to mention, the virus hasn't slowed down a ton in terms of infections, hospitalizations and deaths. I don't know what other evidence people need to move the needle. Look, personal accountability is a thing. If the means and information are out there (they are), and people still refuse to be vaccinated, that's on them. I think that's rooted in a lot more systemic distrust than it is the words of Biden and Harris nearly a year ago. That seems to hold water considering the amount of black people who still aren't vaccinated even with all the evidence to show how well the vaccine works. Sorry I don't think their words would have affected much. That's a longstanding distrust for the medical community and government that far precedes the COVID vaccine amongst Black people.
